Birth control isn't available in Alaska?

not for the right wing evangelicals, they rely on abstinence

Well, I hope the girl is treated more kindly by the media than Jamie
Lynn Spears was. I also hope she was at least 16 when she had
intercourse, assuming 16 is the age of consent in Alaska.

Ah, yes...abstinence education, about as realistic as, say, creationism.

The girl deserves proper treatment and privacy

Remember this woman was picked to appeal to the evangelical family
values anti sex anti abortion crowd

the 2004 gop platform was clearly in the "keep em stupid " version of
sex education

"Therefore, we support doubling abstinence education funding. We
oppose school-based clinics that provide referrals, counseling, and
related services for contraception and abortion."

The republicans make teen pregnancies a political issue

The failure by her mother to promptly disclose and the poor judgment
shown by McCain in thinking this could be kept secret are very and
reasonably troubling

Obviously, the Republicans favor teen pregnancies, because if they
didn't, they would favor school based clinics that provide referrals,
counseling and related services for contraception, if not for abortion.

I don't want to see the young lady interviewed or overly photographed
because of this, but I sure want to see her mama and papa questioned
about this, their child-rearing practices, and their ability to raise
the remainder of their children in the face of this failure.

And I entirely agree with your comment about McCain.
His failure to disclose is yet another lapse.

right especially when they used her children to prop up her campaigne
appearance

"At a rally Saturday evening in Washington, Pennsylvania, Bristol did
not join the rest of her family on stage.

"Then we have our daughter Bristol, she's on the bus with the newborn,
and then we have our daughter Willow, who is here, and our youngest
daughter Piper," Palin said as she introduced her family.

"On that bus we have our son Trig, who is a beautiful baby boy we
welcomed into the world just in April. It's his naptime, so he is with
his big sister on the bus. But we thank them for being here."

So she is the "big sister" not the pregnant girl who we dont want seen

Bush thinks he has dictatorial powers. Just check his history of

You guys are funny.
A 17 year-old unmarried girl gets pregnant.
Her folks are no doubt upset, maybe shamed, and don't want to parade
her belly on national TV. Not good for her, not good for them.
End of the world as we know it.
You sound like a bunch of old housewives sitting around gossiping.
Hilda says, "Martha, did you hear Bertha saw the Connover's youngest,
Betty I think, necking with the Graves' son, Jimmy I think, right in
his car parked in front of the Connovers' house last night?"
Martha, putting both hands to her lips, astounded, says, "Oh Lordy.
Oh Lordy. I do declare, there's trouble brewing there!"
Hilda replies, "What is this world coming to?" and slowly shakes her
head back and forth in a mournful fashion.
Martha follows suit. Then they tsk tsk as continue knitting doilies.
BTW, these old hags could be had for a couple drinks and some sweet
talk when their skin was smooth. And they had shotgun weddings.
Fits you guys to a T. Gossips.

Good spin, but not conclusive.

What is conclusive is that the 17-year-old Palin daughter is pregnant
right now. Would it be news if her mother had not come out so strongly
against school-based sex education and contraception counseling and so
strongly in favor of abstinence?

What's worse...McCain knew about this before he named Palin as his
running mate. Did he think it was going to remain a secret?
