Zimmerman to be arrested and charged....
In article ,
says... http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/30/op...ted-community- mentality.html Though I don't want to live in a gated community myself, or ever belong to a HOA, this is a shallow article, not worth reading. I'd like to know how many of these people living in these places simply moved there because of location or pricing. You know, as in location, location, location. And "Can I afford it?" I'm sure there are many "wrong-thinking" folks in these places, but it's not smart to paint with a broad brush. Once a developer establishes a gated-community, isn't the die cast? Can the HOA members vote to change it to non-gated? Also, I've heard these places have virtually the same crime rates as non-gated. So it just doesn't make any sense to me. |

Pretty much. Have you seen the signs? They were photographed and put out on CNN All the signs said was that it was a neighborhood that had a neighborhood watch program. It didn't say that you couldn't be walking on the sidewalk. They also said trespassers would be arrested and prosecuted Zimmerman had no powers of arrest and prosecution. That is why he called the police as soon as he saw Martin. That is not the action of a guy who wants to simply track a guy down and shoot them as Corey has alleged. Yeah, right. Sure. |

Unless there is a witness we have not seen yet, that will be the only story we have. Everything else is speculation. Not true at all. Zimmerman STATED that he "followed Martin". He also said he had lost sight of Martin I keep hearing that Martin did not need to explain **** but that is not really true. If you don't live in a gated community you do not understand. These people pay thousands of dollars a year to live behind gates so they will not have strangers walking around. Every resident is part owner of that street, that sidewalk and the grass in between. They have the same right to ask a stranger what they are doing there as you would have to ask someone why they were walking across your patio. And the stranger has no right to just walk away? Not really ... in Florida. On your property, you can pretty much shoot them and that is particularly true if they punch you in the nose and knock you down Harry would shoot you for that and he lives in a "retreat state" So if a man like Zimmerman approaches me at night in Florida while I'm walking home I can't under law walk away? You can certainly walk away but you can't punch them in the nose for asking "what are you doing here" on private property. And there you have it... it's not against the law to ask someone a question. It IS against the law to commit assault & battery. "Going to my Dad's house." was the proper response. A little less attitude would have saved his life. |

There was something different here and it was the actions of Martin Yeah, you're right. The guy was scared, he according to the phone conversation with his girlfriend, tried to walk away fast. Now please, you keep defending Zimmerman, so let's see this evidence you have that "the actions of Martin" led to his death. If you trust the girl friend, Martin never made a civil gesture to explain who he was and why he was there. After all, this is private property, behind gates and fences and Martin was a stranger. The fight appears to have started immediately after Zimmerman asked "what are you doing here"? (again according to Martin's girlfriend.) Presumably the question was answered with a punch in the nose. I keep hearing that Martin did not need to explain **** but that is not really true. If you don't live in a gated community you do not understand. They have the same right to ask a stranger what they are doing there as you would have to ask someone why they were walking across your patio. I wouldn't have said a word to Zimmerman. I would have just kept on walking to the house where a blood relative lived. If Martin had done that it would just be another gone on arrival call for the cops. Instead he chose to confront Zimmerman. Gee, the FOXites seem to think that the lefties are making judgement calls, but the above is just hearsay. You don't know the facts. If the property is that private, I wonder who is called when police or firemen are needed. They pay their taxes., They call the cops and fire department just like you would for your private property that you have said you would kill over. Was the property properly posted with a sign that said, "Unless you live here, keep out or our Doberman Zimmerman will chase after you with a loaded firearm." Pretty much. Have you seen the signs? They were photographed and put out on CNN All the signs said was that it was a neighborhood that had a neighborhood watch program. It didn't say that you couldn't be walking on the sidewalk. Anybody with nothing to hide, and/or a brain, would identify themselves if they were strangers walking in a clearly posted private property and questioned by someone representing the clearly posted neighborhood watch.. |

Just one would save everyone a lot of headache. |

Well, the thing is this: In general, trespass laws apply to someone infringing on private property to which he or she has not been invited. Martin was indeed invited there. "Well then"??? How about saying, "sorry I lied about him not being private property, I will go read the police report before making an ass of myself again here"...???????? |
