Tell us Bob... what Sat Phone provider are you going to register with? No
.... please Telus!

We haven't picked one yet. My old unit was globalstar, which I actually got a
deal on at the time through my local provider. I used it for my job at the
time, but we have since switched to using the web.

Way to change the subject BB.

location to do a blue-water cruise, why not?

So, John, are we to understand that you agree with Joe's post about

no boat
under 200 feet ever needing a bow thruster? Or do you agree with me

that in
some cases it's needed based on the vessel and docking situation?

You frickin idiot... you have cell phone coverage that is ten times

as
reliable as a Sat Phone!!!

How stupid are you Bob?

Wrong, wrong, wrong. The Sat phone ALWAYS works here. ALWAYS.

'here', meaning in the slip.

Now where on the East or West Coast of the Continental US is there an area
without cellular service??

Whole sections of the LIS are without service or have poor service. I've
switched phones 3 times to attain better signals. Verizon is currently the
best. It works 75% of the time.

My sympathies on having to endure such 3rd world service in a country that
lays claim to such global power. There is no area along the coast of Nova
Scotia that does not have cellular service. You must truly live in a poverty
stricken location when cellular service is so spotty as to be unavailable
regardless of the fact that you are within line of sight of heavily
populated areas.

No they don't. If they heeled, it would spill the bong.

That wouldn't matter if you used the Tandem Master-Slave Unit...

When *did* he do that, anyway?

Don't really know much about Bob's sailing "history". I do recall

him
bragging about not being a "9 to 5'er" on more than one occasion. My
thoughts have always been, if you have the time and are in a

You think he's scared? Too lazy? Can't stow enough food onboard?

Given his lubbery ways and lack of sailing skills, it's probably safer
that he doesn't.

I suspect that Bobs done a lot less
sailing than he claimed he would.

he's done a lot less everything than he claims.

Joe,

I agree with you!!!!

Ever maneuvered a 52'yacht in close quarters Donal?

No. The biggest that I've maneouvered in a tight situation is 47'.

I can tell you that having a bow thruster makes it much easier, and
gives a huge margin of safety.

I agree that a bow thruster would make life much easier.

Equally, a 260hp engine would be more convenient than a set of sails????
