A terrific honor for Al and the United States.

Yep, and congrats to him for his award and commitment, regardless of whether
global warming is indeed, man induced.

It's ironic that had he been declared the victor in 2000, it is unlikely he
would receiving a Nobel prize today.

Most republicans think that global warming isn't happening in any way,
man made or otherwise. Imagine how awful they must feel realizing that
someone won the Nobel prize for something they believe to be
fictitous.

This is the citation of the Nobel Committee:

"Indications of changes in the earth's future climate must be treated
with the utmost seriousness, and with the precautionary principle
uppermost in our minds. Extensive climate changes may alter and
threaten the living conditions of much of mankind. They may induce
large-scale migration and lead to greater competition for the earth's
resources. Such changes will place particularly heavy burdens on the
world's most vulnerable countries. There may be increased danger of
violent conflicts and wars, within and between states."

So, if I have this straight, Gore won for proselytizing a less than
universally accepted "scientific" theory which, presumably, has led to
action which prevented (or not) possible future competition for
resources, possible future conflicts, and future wars which haven't
happened yet and which may (or may not) ever occur because they are
only a possibility.

I think is a great precedent! If one can win a Nobel Peace Prize for
preventing events from transpiring which never actually would have
happened anyway, than I am your man.

Year 2050: Shortwave Sportfishing's posting of the first rec.boats low
transom thread is finally received by the residents of Omicron Perseii
VIII, saving the Earth from brutal annexation.

Gimme my prize!! You can keep the medal, just give me the million
bucks.- Hide quoted text -

Have you ever heard of a place called Somalia? It's universally
accepted that the civil wars there are attributed to climate change.
Drought.

And that has what to do with anything?

Climate change, peace. Nobel Peace Prize. Al Gore. Is ANYTHING hitting
those brain cells of yours yet?

Oh, and *I* have never had a heart attack, ever.- Hide quoted text -

Oh bullcrap... Somalia was racist, corrupt, and at war long before Al
invented the idea of taxing corporations based on normal global
cycles, They are not connected. the way you are using them, they are
just words...

What do the Global Taxing folks say about the great historical freezes
in South America lately and the fact that the antarctic ice cap is
growing faster than any time in history. Well, they won't address
it, and when faced with the possiblity of be faced with these facts
they dismiss the query and run away...- Hide quoted text -

"Global Taxing folks" WTF? And you, like a lot of conservatives with
there head in the sand can't possibly understand how the antarctic ice
cap is growing faster and still have the earth warming up, can you?
It's actually quite simple. Want to try, or do you need me to tell you
the answer?- Hide quoted text -

Please, educate us all.- Hide quoted text -

I'll throw you a bone. It has to do with precipitation. Now, when you
educate me about those "Global Warming folks", we'll continue. Are
they a well known group? How are they funded?
