A terrific honor for Al and the United States.
Yep, and congrats to him for his award and commitment, regardless of whether
global warming is indeed, man induced.
It's ironic that had he been declared the victor in 2000, it is unlikely he
would receiving a Nobel prize today.

Most republicans think that global warming isn't happening in any way,
man made or otherwise. Imagine how awful they must feel realizing that
someone won the Nobel prize for something they believe to be
fictitous.
This is the citation of the Nobel Committee:
"Indications of changes in the earth's future climate must be treated
with the utmost seriousness, and with the precautionary principle
uppermost in our minds. Extensive climate changes may alter and
threaten the living conditions of much of mankind. They may induce
large-scale migration and lead to greater competition for the earth's
resources. Such changes will place particularly heavy burdens on the
world's most vulnerable countries. There may be increased danger of
violent conflicts and wars, within and between states."
So, if I have this straight, Gore won for proselytizing a less than
universally accepted "scientific" theory which, presumably, has led to
action which prevented (or not) possible future competition for
resources, possible future conflicts, and future wars which haven't
happened yet and which may (or may not) ever occur because they are
only a possibility.
I think is a great precedent! If one can win a Nobel Peace Prize for
preventing events from transpiring which never actually would have
happened anyway, than I am your man.
Year 2050: Shortwave Sportfishing's posting of the first rec.boats low
transom thread is finally received by the residents of Omicron Perseii
VIII, saving the Earth from brutal annexation.
Gimme my prize!! You can keep the medal, just give me the million

Have you ever heard of a place called Somalia? It's universally
accepted that the civil wars there are attributed to climate change.
Drought.
What caused the mid-west dust bowl in the 30's? Was that global warming?
Is every occurrence of drought caused by global warming? What happens
when the rains come again, has global warming stopped?- Hide quoted text -

Global warming and simple climatic events are two completely different
things.
Bassy,
I hope you are feeling better, what was the problem that kept you away
from rec.boats for so long?- Hide quoted text -

Hopefully he knows you are serious. But I doubt he understands that
unlike those who would see Cheney, Bush, Rush, etc, dead, and state it
regularly, We actually are/were concerned for, even Bassy. But then
again, most of "us" value every life, personally I don't want to see
anyone's wife grow old alone...
Bassy, there was a thread or two about you which I was in on when we
talked, before you knew who I was (sorry for that, did not think you
would respond if you did, meant everything I said then, as I do now).
Everyone on and off list that asked me about you wanted to see you
well, of not back, everyone, no exceptions... Think about that when
you are stereotyping us from now on and things will go much
smoother...- Hide quoted text -

Yeah, your holier than thou, huh? How about *your* sterotypes? Which
Hannity/Rush sterotype am I today, socialist? Communist? A liar?
How are you feeling today?- Hide quoted text -

Fantastic, as I do every day! How about you? Your boat isn't in
Aqualand Marina by any chance is it? I understand more dockage is
becoming unusable there every day.

I am feeling OK, I don't want to over commit and say Fantastic.

I have keep my boat at Aqualand in years past, and it was on the Holiday
Marina side and about in the middle of the finger, so it was very deep.
I enjoyed Aqualand staff and the Dockside Grill. Since my dogs come
up with me, it the only on water restaurants that will allow my dogs to
sit next to me. My slip today is in deep water, but the marina has
contacted me to see if I am willing to move my boat out of the water so
they can accommodate some of the larger boats that can not be dry docked
as easily as mine. I told them I prefer to keep it in till after
Thanksgiving, but if they really need the space, to let me know.- Hide quoted text -

I like the freebie ramp at Aqualand, but if go to the edge of the ramp
right now, you'll look down about 3 feet to the water! Unlike some,
because I really like the area so I use their ramp, I go to their
store, grill etc. some. I fish some very decent spots up Flowery
Branch, and then usually run around the islands to Shoal Creek.

Actually I can't either, especially when the ice cap is supposed to be
shrinking due to global warming.
