![]() "John H." wrote in message ... Wrong. The earth's temperature has increased by one degree in the past century. This is disputed by very, very few. Whether or not man caused even one-fiftieth of the one degree rise is the question. The next question is what to do about it. Many on your side want to spend a lot of money making Gore rich. Others want to make a lot of money by 'carbon offsets' (more tree planting?). I'll know the liberals are taking man's contribution seriously when Sen. Robert Byrd says, "Let's build a nuclear plant in West Virginia!" I don't dispute that even though last winter was cold where I live. Lets hope they are right. I thought we had a high this summer, but turns out in 1937 and 2 other years before it, was warmer. 1) Is it so freaking bad? 2) My SUT and SUV melted Mars polar cap? Give me a break. They can't predict weather for 3 days and we think they know how this is going to affect us in 200 years? Lets not be naive. The most bio diverse places on earth are tropical, and the least are on a polar ice caps. Just a lot of wasted real-estate I say. Prehistoric times life and vegetation peeked on the earth with ferns and dinosaurs on the north slope of Alaska. You don't see 500,000 year old ice cores, because it has melted before many times. It is panic propelled by socialistic "sky is falling" eco-farts wanting government money and prey on social panic. Otherwise for the populous to keep their minds off of taxes, inflation, dumb wars and other issues. Remember that carbon was once in the air that we burn today. Plants eat it, and it isn't like cadmium, concentraighted lead, plastics and other man made junk like PCBs. |
