I desire to purchase a used rack, will any yakima or thule rack that is
"non-gutter" work? If not, which ones in particular? I think I will
then need to purchase the correct honda kit for it, yes?

Go to http://www.thuleracks.com and http://www.yakima.com and put
your car information into the fit guide. It will tell you what parts
to get for each brand. You can then know what parts to look for either
new or used.

A typical non-raingutter car will use towers (common), crossbars
(common, but come in different lengths for different width cars),
and fit pieces (specific to the kind of car). Those with factory
roof rails or roof tracks typically use different types of mountings.
Towers for use with raingutter cars differ from those used for
non-raingutter cars.
