Well, good for you. If I were a certified Yamaha or Cummins mechanic, I
might try some engine work. But I'm not. So I just keep the engines
clean and make sure everything is tight and the fluids are "up." There's
nothing broken on my boats, so there is nothing to fix.



Do what you want Harry. I know now you don't own a boat, even the little
Parker....it is someone else's.

Remove and dispose of the shrink wrap.
Check the trailer tires and bearings and hitch and electrical.
Charge batteries and reinstall in boat.
Tank test and adjust the engine, re-check all grease fittings. (oil was
changed last fall).
Check function on all boat mechanical and electrical systems.
Wash boat.
Wax boat.

Lucky you. When I retired, in order to receive my 'package', I had to sign
a waiver saying I wouldn't work for the Corp again. Avoids 'double

Nope. The county loves retired teachers who will substitute. We get an
additional 50% in our pay, which still isn't much. If I substitute math, I just
teach whatever was on tap for that day. If it's another subject, the teachers
know that I've had a lot of experience in 'classroom management' and can get
something accomplished other than a movie.

As for me, well, it keeps me off the streets, and I can make my own schedule.

I am pretty much the same. I don't like frozen fish as much as the totally
fresh stuff so I take what I can eat in the next couple of days (I don't like
cleaning them either! LOL).

Water was green to the jetty on one side and the Texas sunshine was great!
A little windy but very fishable yesterday! Oh yeah we boxed a couple of
keep Gafftop Sail catfish too and some sand trout.

More and more of us up here are using circle hooks. They do take some getting
used to. The urge to set the hook is strong, after many years of doing what my
daddy said. I've lost a lot of stripers because of impatience - trying to pull
them in before the circle hook had set. Since many of the stripers caught on cut
bait don't meet the minimum length (18") a lot get released. With circle hooks,
I've never gut-hooked one, so I'm pretty sure they all lived after release. That
is a nice feeling.
