Default Beautiful day on the Bay **Texas fishing report

Nope, didn't wet anything. I don't like catching and releasing. Don't think
it's
good for the fish, but lots of folks disagree with me. That's their right. I've
never seen a fish caught while trolling that was gut hooked, so maybe they do
stand a pretty good chance of staying alive. But, for sure they will be a
little
bit smarter next time a lure comes by, no? I think their smart enough without
giving them more reason to shy away from pretty lures!

I went fishing yesterday at Surfside Texas just off the jetties with a friend.
We caught two bull reds (one each) on cut bait soaked on the bottom.
I was out of trophy tags for the year but my friend tagged and keep his 18lb
34incher. We both used circle hooks. Circle hooks generally catch in the lip
area and make catch and release easier on the fish.

I like to go out, get my two fish in the cooler, and then go home and eat 'em.

I am pretty much the same. I don't like frozen fish as much as the totally
fresh stuff so I take what I can eat in the next couple of days (I don't like
cleaning them either! LOL).

Water was green to the jetty on one side and the Texas sunshine was great!
A little windy but very fishable yesterday! Oh yeah we boxed a couple of
keep Gafftop Sail catfish too and some sand trout.
