Hers came only after she caught her paddle in her face hard enough to get her teeth all the way through her lower lip. And that was at the entrance to a class V rapid. :-( Thanks again. The amount of information and choices are somewhat overwhelming on this topic. We have the farmer wetsuits already, figuring out exactly what else to wear on the top is still an intriguing question to me :-) Good luck figuring it out! :-) -- Wilko van den Bergh wilko(a t)dse(d o t)nl Eindhoven The Netherlands Europe ---Look at the possibilities, don't worry about the limitations.--- http://wilko.webzone.ru/ |

TnT 1) Why do you keep choosing the reality that includes a doubling of your messages? 2) I thought you recently signed off from talking about me? 3) Does 1 + 2 mean that you are twice the twit? |

You wear the farmer wetsuit, some sort of shirt that keeps you warm and won't soak up water if it gets wet, and a drytop of some sort, what I would call a "paddling jacket." |

Though it's not quite as much of an issue with a farmer john/jane wetsuit as it can be for a wetsuit with full length arms, wearing an anti-chafing top underneath a wetsuit can be a good thing; especially when you're going to be paddling for hours on end. You can usually find something like this in surf shops. - -- Melissa Anti-chafing! Sounds so...serious. But I don't like chafing, so I guess this is important :-) |

Although I wear a layer of that "sort of shirt that keeps you warm and won't soak up water if it gets wet" under my wetsuit, it's not there to prevent chafing (which my farmer johns which are cut for paddling with extra wide openings for the arms) but more to provide a more comfortable dry layer when I have to put on a damp wetsuit over it on a winter day (for example after several days of paddling which make all of my other dry wetsuits wet as well :-) ). I couldn't agree more! Having a well fitting wetsuit, paddling jacket and swimming vest makes a huge difference in the comfort one has when paddling for extended periods of time. I've had paddling clothes that have rubbed my skin away after paddling in them for longer. Not much fun, especially when you have to don those clothes again for the remainder of a long paddling holiday. -- Wilko van den Bergh wilko(a t)dse(d o t)nl Eindhoven The Netherlands Europe ---Look at the possibilities, don't worry about the limitations.--- http://wilko.webzone.ru/ |
Doubling up the message, reminds me of the old Doublemint Gum jingle.
It makes things twice as juicy, twice as good, lasts twice as long. In other words, twice as good. So consider yourself twice as blest Keenan. 1) Since it is such a hugh issue to you. I realize that your lister receives the post each time I post, even though I am allowed by Google to cancel the first to correct a spelling error I did not catch in the prepost preview, and then repost. As an educator, I would think that you would appreciate my attempt to spell words correctly. I don't catch them all, but I try. And I am certain that you have never misspelled a word, or canceled a posting! 2) I don't recall that I ever said I would stop talking to or about you. If you ask a question or make a statement, indirectly, or directly to or about me, I reserve the right to respond. I realize that it is like spitting into the wind!. If you don't like the flak, stay out of my airspace. Leave me alone, and I will gladly leave you alone! 3) so 1+2 does not equal anything about me, so much as about you. 1) my postings are irritating to you because you are too sensitive, but then we all need to be more sensitive, so makes you a model usenet user. 2) you prolong the personal posting because you like to draw attention to yourself, but then you are an interesting character, and you bring out the best in us all. And then maybe the worst as well! 3) So, the way I add it up, a) if my double postings irritate you, get a thicker skin, b) if you don't like people talking about you, get a thicker skin, c) if you can't get a thicker skin, take 2 Advil, Excedrin, or Midol. In your world, I am sure you can just move on if you really wanted to, but then as I said earlier, You still get to much juice from the attention to move on. So carry on and protest your innosense. I have apolpgized to you for any and all past injustice to you on my part. Now lick your wounds, for as they say, "because you can!" TnT |

As an educator, I would think that you would appreciate my attempt to spell words correctly. I don't catch them all, but I try. And I am certain that you have never misspelled a word, or canceled a posting! I often make typos, but no, I have never cancelled a posting. This isn't a spelling contest, so I would rather let my spelling errors stand than post the same message twice. 2) I don't recall that I ever said I would stop talking to or about you. If you ask a question or make a statement, indirectly, or directly to or about me, I reserve the right to respond. Oh, by all means! I just recall you made a big signoff sort of speech, I guess I misunderstood the meaning of this: "As for me, I continue to move on, to enjoy posting here and else where, and to generally enjoy the whole paddling and usenet experience. Have a good life Keenan. Thankyou and Good bye, Tinkerntom" It all seemed so...final. And dramatic. You can see how I might have taken that to mean, well, "goodbye." I realize that it is like spitting into the wind!. If you don't like the flak, stay out of my airspace. Leave me alone, and I will gladly leave you alone! Nono. Do as you wish. As I said, I misunderstood the meaning of that post when I thought you were storming out of the room never to be heard from again. 3) so 1+2 does not equal anything about me, so much as about you. ???? 1) my postings are irritating to you because you are too sensitive, but then we all need to be more sensitive, so makes you a model usenet user. When you get carried away you don't mess around, you really give it the full nutter. I like that about you Tinkerntom. Sometimes you see those guys on the sidewalk making speeches about the coming apocalypse and if they don't have that real wild look in their eyes, it just isn't convincing. 2) you prolong the personal posting because you like to draw attention to yourself, but then you are an interesting character, and you bring out the best in us all. And then maybe the worst as well! Some classic Tinkerntom there! Your aspirin is screaming for mercy again. 3) So, the way I add it up, a) if my double postings irritate you, get a thicker skin Why not learn how to post only once? If we all posted our messages twice, I am sure you can appreciate there would be a problem. b) if you don't like people talking about you, get a thicker skin Oh, Tinkerntom, I'm afraid you misunderstood. I have no interest in curtailing your freedoms! As you can imagine, when I thought you had signed off from interacting with me for life, I was devastated. When suddenly you came back to life, I wanted to check in and see what had resulted in this big change of heart. c) if you can't get a thicker skin, take 2 Advil, Excedrin, or Midol. Goodness, you really are in a snit today. In your world, I am sure you can just move on if you really wanted to, but then as I said earlier, You still get to much juice from the attention to move on. So carry on and protest your innosense. I have apolpgized to you for any and all past injustice to you on my part. Now lick your wounds, for as they say, "because you can!" TnT Your aspirin jar has just exploded. |
Well Kman, you are in unusually rare form today as well. I do hope the
explosion helped you feel better! Though I am wondering if it blew part of your name away. As far as the double posting issue, since it causes you so much pain, you might consider checking out the new Google gateway to the usenet. When a post is removed, you never see it again. I suspect that Google is providing this convience to promote a faster and more convient access to the discussion forum. The list services seem to be an archaic hold over from the old monolithic central server days. The postings also go through much faster. I have checked out some of the list servers where it can take between several hours to even days for the list servers to catch up with the post. I have not been able to determine what other benefit the old list server format offers, than that established usenet users, have trouble learning new processes. Even the whole idea of bottom posting and including snippits in a post, appears to no longer be necessary. Sort of like using telegraph or smoke signals to communicate, when we have telephones and television. But I realize that some folks may have trouble making that leap into the 21st century, and I will work on being more sensitive to their loss of time and effort, with my double posting, and will try to hold it down to a minimum. As to my storming off, there were no such dramatics involved, just that I was willing to move on if you were, which you apparently were not. You called me back with a question or statement, which I said I was willing to stick around for awhile longer and respond to. If you are now willing to move on, so am I, and I will restate, "As for me, I continue to move on, to enjoy posting here and else where, and to generally enjoy the whole paddling and usenet experience. Have a good life Keenan. Thankyou and Good bye, Tinkerntom" |
