The problem is that studens were misled about their employment
opportunities and then defaulted on their government backed student
loans when they couldn't get jobs. The ITT training wasn't quite as
rigorous as the US Navy's and neither were their admission standards.

So the choice was ITT or go to school in Kansas? and they picked ITT?

In the good old days, out of state kids had to have at least a minimum
score on either the SATs or what I sort of recall was called the ACT,
plus minimum scores on the Achievement Tests. I don't know what the
requirements are these days. Based upon your writing samples here, you
wouldn't have made the cut back then, and it isn't clear you would have
made it through what we called "Bonehead English." Sorry, Charlie, but
even in Kansas back then, rotten tuna didn't make it in.

I made it through English, and though math, and an engineering degree at a
good school. And had a successful career. Never have been near
bankruptcy.

How wonderful for you. Were you socially promoted through English?

It's been coming for a while. ITT Tech was much like Trump University, a
fraudulent operation.

The 50-year-old company had been under investigation for alleged fraud
and deceptive marketing, as the government cracks down on for-profit
colleges that take federal dollars. The government accused ITT Tech — as
well as similar for-profit schools — of scamming students while failing
to give them adequate job training.

Were you planning to enroll?

Sort of like Laureate, the "For profit" that the Clintons are next
deep in. They pay Bill over $17 million to be an "honorary
chancellor".
I imagine he is useful when they are explaining to the department of
education why they are only second to the University of Phoenix in
student loans and 56% of their graduates are in default, 3 years after
graduation. It makes you wonder how those diplomas are received.
They are actually a "non-profit" although they are not supposed to be.
They are $563 million in the hole over the last 3 years and $104
million in the red in 1q16.
I assume KKR (a partner) already has plans of how to bust this up and
sell it for parts.

The Navy has admission standards? Beyond fogging a mirror?

The good schools do and flunking out has serious implications beyond
just explaining it to your mom.
Typically you had to sign a 6 year commitment and if you flunk out,
plan on chipping paint for all 6 years, making E-3 pay until you can
find another rate that will have you.
Companies did value that training, when they valued employees at all.
IBM took me at 19 because of my navy school, over guys with college
degrees. They hired every ET and FT they could find.

I had good enough SAT and ACT numbers to be accepted at American U, U
Md and GW. I just did not have the money.

That seems to run parallell with the Kansas Klown
Collegeexperience. Why wasn't that school shut down?

Some of us wouldn't meet the entrance requirements of the Kansas
school for English studies.

You wouldn't have gotten into the AP ENGLISH courses or even into the
bonehead English courses.

Wait a minute! You claimed to have taught bonehead English in
Kollich. Who , in his right mind, would attend a course you
taught?

Students who wanted to get into an English course that provided college
credit and would allow them to graduate. I actually taught bonehead
English at three universities. There were a lot of English boneheads
back then...you know, like you.

I doubt you would get much more than the statistical guessing average
(~25%) on the ETST (a test that is a prereq for Navy electronics
