My sarcasm wasn't obvious? * Just teasing John.

heading into some backwoods areas in attempts to convert indigenous

"Indigenous Catholics?" And what were the indigenous before they were
Catholics?

"and, as bait, they were bringing along church members who were

is it wrong to help people improve their health and their lives?

" What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have
faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother
or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to
them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about
their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by
itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead."

James 2:14-17

What were the indigenous peoples before they were catholics? They had
their own culture and their own religions *before* the Europeans came
along and destroyed both.

Interesting quote you provided...sort of a justification for
proselytizing and destroying a people and a culture. It's damned wrong
to go to some backwater area and offer help to people if only they will
give up their beliefs and culture to adopt yours.

Odd, I thought those human sacrificing civilizations became
'Indigenous Catholics"

All indigenous in this context means is people native to the general
area. The people in question had their own culture and religion until
European christians destroyed both and forcibly converted them to
christianity. Those who survived were still indigenous people.

As for their human sacrifices, were they any worse in that than the
christians who came along and murdered large segments of the indigenous
populations with their weapons and European diseases? Since the time of
jesus, millions and millions of people have been murdered in the name of
christianity. Are those murders somehow less evil than the ones the
peoples of Central and South America committed before they were
destroyed by christianity? Christianity is a bloodthirsty sect.

I never said they did, at least not since I was a child and that didn't
take very well. It never made sense. I have a vivid memory as a young
child of a Sunday school teacher describing Noah's Arc and the flood and
how in heaven the lion will lie with the lamb, etc. I remember looking
around at the other kids and thinking wow, they believe these stories, I
better just be quiet.

They do routinely come to my front door ignoring the no soliciting sign
and try to convince me that I need to dedicate my life to Jesus to avoid
an eternity of suffering, join their church, and donate to their cause.
Perhaps they mean well but I think they're full of **** and annoying.
I've never had a Muslim, Jew, or atheist solicit like that.

Maybe if I stop being polite to them they'd leave me alone.

My sister's daughter went on a weekend trip with a Baptist church group.
When they got her away from home, where she was a vulnerable 10 year
old, they tried to brainwash her into being "born again". She's smart
and takes such things seriously, she wouldn't do it, saying that she had
to talk to her mom and dad about it. That scared her and she's not
stepped foot in a church since.

That's truly a shame. One must come to the Lord on their own accord,
if they are going to. I don't believe in 'altar dragging'

That's not even biblical.

It's not a real story either.... Just sayin' Tim.

Entrust your kid to a church group where he/she may be molested and have
his/her head filled with superstitious nonsense and hatred towards gays.
Is that the explanation for Snotty?

And even if it is somewhat based on fact.. like even if his neice did go
to a church event nobody tried "brainwashing" (in one day, snerk), but
it's obvious somebody already was conditioned to hate and be intolerant
before her tenth birthday... I could believe that coming from the Noble
Klan...

Harry I have no idea where you get the notion of " if only they will
give up their beliefs and culture to adopt yours."

That isn't written in the scripture, it isn't even applied. I have no
idea why you feel you need to conjure up these things.

Harry, I give away a lot of firewood to people who need it. and yes,
I will invite people to come to my church. If they wish to, then fine,
if not, do you think I quite giving to them?

I'll let you decide.

Really? Then there must be another explanation for all the church
pedophiles who prey on young children. What is it?
