If you thought...

....the homophobic, conservative "Christian" Republican echo chamber
couldn't get any more absurd or laughable, think again. This is not from
the Onion:

CONSERVATIVE WEBSITE BLASTS CBS'S SUPER BOWL PROMO

CBS and Neil Patrick Harris have come under attack from the executive
editor of the popular conservative news site WND (formerly World Net
Daily) (aka World Nutcase Daily) for "mocking Christianity" and "pushing
the gay agenda" in a Super Bowl ad currently airing on the network. The
ad shows Harris wearing black paint under his eyes, similar to the kind
worn by many football players, with "Feb 3" written in white ink under
one eye and "2013" under the other -- the date for Super Bowl XLVII. The
ad appears to be a spoof of New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow's
practice of writing the numbers of bible verses on his eye paint. In his
WND editorial, Joe Kovacs wrote that CBS "is now using an outspoken
homosexual actor to mimic Tim Tebow's style of trumpeting messages."
Kovacs quoted one unnamed "football fan who watched the CBS promo" as
saying, "They're pushing a gay agenda by using him, and they're mocking
Christians at the same time." Neither CBS nor Harris has responded.

- - -

Harris is a funny guy, and even if he is spoofing Tebow's religiousity
(which is not proven), who gives a ****? Suddenly you can't spoof
religion? Why is that?

Crazy Christian Conservatives care. I am not embarrassed to admit I
never heard or paid attention to the name Tim Tebow before I stumbled
across this article.

Yup, takes a real bitch to mock Christians on tv... Trying to get
brownie points with the haters in the audience..

You stupid little bitch, he was mocking TEBOW. So, if Tebow is a
Christian, in your idiotic mind, if someone makes fun of him they are
making fun of all Christians? Do you realize how stupid you sound?

I wasn't the one "mocking" Tebow but since you asked...

Some radical Muslims are clearly dangerous but they haven't bothered me
personally. I've worked and socialized with more than a few Muslims but
my acquaintances are skewed toward younger H1B visa holders with
advanced technical degrees. One guy from Bangladesh was the most
outspoken about his faith yet seemed to sincerely struggle with certain
aspects of it and was surprisingly receptive to skeptical thinking and
alternative views. He brought the subject up more than once so I
eventually expressed my honest opinions over the course of several
conversations, some of which could fairly be characterized as good
natured mocking of supernatural beliefs. He's a kind intelligent guy
that I trust and we remain on very good terms. I can't say the same of
most Christian proselytizers I've encountered. YMMV

Another co-worker grew up in Abbottabad Pakistan, the town where Bin
Laden was captured. I've been less outspoken with him because he's
never brought up religion. We mostly talked about sailing, politics,
and fishing.

I never said they did, at least not since I was a child and that didn't
take very well. It never made sense. I have a vivid memory as a young
child of a Sunday school teacher describing Noah's Arc and the flood and
how in heaven the lion will lie with the lamb, etc. I remember looking
around at the other kids and thinking wow, they believe these stories, I
better just be quiet.

They do routinely come to my front door ignoring the no soliciting sign
and try to convince me that I need to dedicate my life to Jesus to avoid
an eternity of suffering, join their church, and donate to their cause.
Perhaps they mean well but I think they're full of **** and annoying.
I've never had a Muslim, Jew, or atheist solicit like that.

Maybe if I stop being polite to them they'd leave me alone.

Christians force their beliefs on others in many ways other than
attempts at door to door salesmanship. These include but are not
limited to:

Attempting to reinstate official school prayer in public schools

Enacting laws that restrict the availability of abortion and access to
birth control

Restricting the rights of gays to marry

Restricting medical research and development in the area of stem cells

I'm sure one of y'all said something about Christians 'forcing' their beliefs on you. I've had many
interactions with Christians, but have never been 'forced' to believe any certain way. Not sure
which of you got 'forced', 'cause y'all sound so much alike anyway.

I've also had various folk come to my door with religious intent of one sort or the other. I don't
listen as long as you apparently do, so I don't know about their trying to convince me of all those
things you mention. I've found a polite, "Not interested, thanks," along with shutting the door
solves the problem.

Maybe, thumper, you're right. Open the door with a .45 in your hand, say, "Get the **** off my
porch," and slam the door in their face. After all, you do have the sign, right?

It's nice, also, that you were so much smarter than all the kids in your Sunday school class. You
should simply have told your parents that you didn't believe all the **** they believed. Then you
could have grown up and been even more like ESAD!

My sister's daughter went on a weekend trip with a Baptist church group.
When they got her away from home, where she was a vulnerable 10 year
old, they tried to brainwash her into being "born again". She's smart
and takes such things seriously, she wouldn't do it, saying that she had
to talk to her mom and dad about it. That scared her and she's not
stepped foot in a church since.
