Everyone knows Scotty would never eat Twinkies on his boat...he prefers
cheese inhalants....

Interesting. - Doug said that the wind speed might have been as much as

Because whitecaps usually begin forming around 8 knots and are regular
at 10.

Huh?

Are they different on your sea?

You think Doug King is an inferior sailor
because he owns a trawler.

I don't think Doug is an inferior sailor. In fact I know that he has more
experience and info about sailing.
But he's still a jerk.

There was none on. I was going to add one, but the way the center hatch
opens , it would be in the way.

The rest of us know that owning a nice
boat or an expensive boat has absolutely nothing to do with the ability of
the owner, period.

Wow, John. You spent a lot of time on that post and I sympathize. BUT, you
don't have to read my posts. Clearly, Doug, Scotty and Loco and others enjoy
the obviously petty nonsense that goes on here, but "you" are above it all.
Simply don't play, John. It's that simple.

you really have to go a far piece to make
yourself feel important, don't you?

Oh, Katy. You're such a tool.

C'mon Bob, try a little harder. How long have you been POSTING here. You
constantly belittle Scotty's choice of boat. Think about it. You've heard
the term, kicking a dead dog, right?

So now I'm a dead dog? Oh well, I've been called worse.

If you think Scotty owns such a crappy
boat, why keep bringing it up?

Jealousy?

Also, I don't plan on making any extended ocean passages.

What does that have to do about whether you have instruments or not????

Well, If you are only going to take your boat out in Galveston Bay
within a few miles of land, wind speed and weather aren't as critical as
when you plan on sailing from Kemah to Galveston to Corpus, or to
Brownsville. In other words, if you are only interested in day sailing,
you might be willing to rely on hand-held instruments, or on
observations based on the Beaufort scale, when you know you can motor
back to port in 20 minutes. - Does that answer your question Katy?

Jim, remember...Doug "sails" a Trawler!

And has covered more miles in just the past year than you'll ever travel
by water. Anchored more times than you ever will. Sailed & raced a wide
variety of one designs & keelboats over the past 4 decades, often
bringing home silver.

You've got the edge on me in sock puppets, though.

Sounds like you are a hot **** salty-dog sailor, Doug.

My boat may not be as fast as yours, and I may not be as salty as you,
but I'm not a fake.

I'm curious, Joe. How do you earn a living, get the money to pay dock
fees and maintenance on your boat, and still have all that free time to
spend sailing around the bay, plus the time you spend following this ng?

Jim

Daddy left me 4 oil wells

Joe

Good for you Joe.

I also have some ocean front property in Arizona. You interested? Its
for sale.

But I don't have even one oil well,

Dab burnit what kind of Texan are you anyway. You at least have a
ranch right?
What about a Ford Truck?

and I have lots of

deadlines and responsibilities at work and home

Don't we all Jim. You should move aboard and set up your law firm
aboard. Make the commute to work enjoyable. Perhaps you should move
into a speciality that make more jack with less hassles and deadlines.
Just a suggestion.

that take precedence

over sailing.

Yeah me to. If I dident have to make money Id be on Palmyra searching
for the lost gold. Or crusing thru Europe on the canals.

My wife and I did get out today, for an afternoon of sailing.

Well good for you. Did you bring the rugrats? The miss and I went for
a dink ride but lost the impeller on the outboard so the trip was cut
short.

Were are you going to anchor on the 4th for the fireworks display?

We will most likely anchor in the bay east of the Kemah cut. You will
see us sail the bay most of the day then anchor around sunset for the
show. My Ketch is Red with Yellow Trim, come on by and raft up with
us. We will have a 60 foot crewboat with cold AC to raft up to.

Joe

Joe, I haven't even found my first oil well, much less four of them. For
the Fourth, I plan on staying at Galveston and watching their fireworks
at the SeaWall, around 38th Street. At Christmas, however, I hope to
be able to achor my boat somewhere in the lake or channel convenient for
watching the Christmas boat parade.
