You know what proof. You don't have it. You are no sailor. You're
also beyond stupid to listen to or communicate with boober. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Jim Cate" wrote in message ... Bobsprit wrote: I'll show Joe the purchase order for my boat verifying that I placed the order on March 25. - We should be able to schedule this event sometime in May. Jim, good luck with the 26M. I hope it works out for you and meets and even exceeds your expectations. While some people here continue to troll, others will be interested to hear how such an odd vessel performs from an actual owner. RB Bob, I'm assuming that Joe is going to show up as promised, and that he will be able to take some convincing pictures of the Mac 26M under sail. If even this isn't sufficient, I'm not sure what form of "evidence" would ever be enough to satisfy Johnathan, Scott, et al. Jim |

I'll look for a faux
plastic trophy for Bobsprit to add to his collection. Taddy, I no longer have to troll. I can post serious boat related stuff or just about anything and the response will be the same. The dogs are old and new tricks are beyond them. Of course not all of them, but Ganz, Scotty, Loco, Steve and Doug are broken records at this point. As for Jim, he posted several good points, which no one here could argue with anything but pure disdain. The FACT is that some people buy and love the 26X or M, just like some people buy and love a Jet Ski. RB |

... He appears to understand what the limits are ...
Yup, 100 miles offshore, and winds no more than 70 knots. Wally, did you actually read the guys posts? He's not going 100 miles offshore. Even a Mac can handle a squall. RB |

The difference between good trolling and bad trolling is that one is
invisibile and the other is transparent. Jimmyjim's efforts were embarrassingly obvious Obvious or not, he had nearly everyone at his feet. A fool who is followed is never the biggest fool. Sorry. RB |

Wish me luck for tomorrow's race, Bob - it's the last of the Easter Series.
We can't win the series, but we have a fair chance of nabbing second place. Good luck! I'd like to see more pics of your boat as you work on her. RB |

Nonetheless... if you were a real friend... you would have talked him out of
this insanity. You know very well he won't be happy with the purchase..... Mooron, here is what I wrote to him: Jim, I don't know if you're a troll or not, but I did recently speak to a couple who sailed the new boat in Florida a few weeks ago. They mostly sailed her and found her to be pretty bad, with poor upwind ability and a very cheap feel. Under power, she did not get up on a plane until they (4 people total) balanced their weight better. I assumed there was some chop. They were looking to buy, but found the sailing performance less than thrilling. They've been mostly renting small sailboats and taking courses in California. They had not sailed the 26X, so this was just a stand-alone test of the M model. I've been aboard the new version, but did not sail her. I can confirm that she's very lightly built and lacking in comfort below, compared to the average Catalina 27. There's a reason for all of the Mac bashing. While she might fit someone's needs, her performance is so poor as to have earned her a general disdain. The build quality, still pretty much the same, is also not highly valued. Speak to a few surveyors. I would not put my family on one, certainly not on anything more than VERY protected waters, such as a small lake. I currently work as a broker part time and have learned a lot about the market. I recently declined two Macs because no brand has a faster loss ratio and owners are pretty shocked by it. They can sell for as little as HALF after just a few years. Amazing. If you've actually bought a Mac, I wish you the best of luck with her. Otherwise you might care to rethink the decision. While the Asa group can be pretty nasty, the well of info is generally on target. There are some boats with bad reps. US Yachts, Mac, Hunter, tanzer, Siedleman and so on. There's a reason for it. As Katy said; "It's your money." Best of luck, Robert B C&C 32, Alien NY |

Wally, did you actually read the guys posts? He's not going 100 miles
offshore. True, he later reduced it to 75, He probably won't do that either, Wally. Most of what he spoke of concerned taking the boat into shallow waters so his kids could swim and play. The Mac should work well in this regard. RB |
