Any Dinghy Sailors Out There?

The Hunter 146, as it is called, is brand new. I think they've only been out for a year. So, you sail on the SF Bay? I sail in the Gulf off the panhandle of FL. We've never got our boat to plane, but then there are two of us in the boat and whoever's in the crew position is weighing down the front end. How do you get a dinghy to plane? The Veridican Bwaaahahhahahahahahaa! It's getting better Taddy! Oz1...of the 3 twins. I'm gobsmacked. How can one possibly top something like this? SHould we suggest he bring the plane to the dinghy? -- Flying Tadpole ------------------------- Learn what lies below the waves of cyberspace! http://www.internetopera.netfirms.com |

Don't know... don't sail dinghies... the cal I sail has a bulb-like
keel, fairly advanced for it's time (1965), finally supplanted by the Santana 22. The keel weighs about 950 lbs. Total boat weight is about 2000. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Veridican" wrote in message ... I'm not familiar with the 14.5. Does it have a keel? No keel, just a swingboard. Was it a Mac, MacBoy?
-- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "Jim Cate" wrote in message ... I had a Lido 14 for several years, and really enjoyed it. It could get up on a plane in the right conditions, which was pretty exciting. It goes really fast in good wind, and we can sail it right on the edge of the no sail zone (45 degrees off the wind). The boat is named, naturally, "Veridican." What about you--what do you sail? Welcome to the sport of sailing. What about you--what do you sail? On a regular basis: JY15, Laser, Albacore, 470, CL-16, Hobie14, plus a smattering of windsurfers. Occasionally I'll hitch a ride on a keelboat when I feel like sailing with a ton of lead underneath me. Wrong. There is a difference sailing a scow than sailing a JY 15....I prefer to have my butt up out tof the water, thank you, and also to have a more reliable boat that doesn't flip...and Florida does not publish the actual amount of shark attacks due to scaring off the tourists....I have stepped on a shark...I didn't know I could run that fast... -- katysails s/v Chanteuse Kirie Elite 32 http://katysails.tripod.com "Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." - Robert A. Florida does not publish the
actual amount of shark attacks due to scaring off the tourists....I have stepped on a shark...I didn't know I could run that fast... First off, Florida doesn't have to--the news does it for them. Secondly, unprovoked shark attacks are very rare throughout the entire US, so they're even more rare in FL. Finally, all I'm saying is that you have a whole lot better chance of drowning than being bit by a shark. Actually a significant number of the world wide reported shark attacks are in
Florida. Almost all of the US attacks are in FL. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0128075321.htm Its still more common to drown, or die from a bee sting. "Veridican" wrote in message ...
