the point was the guy purposefully avoided the slightest mention of price. he
required that any and all who might even remotely be interested in his boat to work at finding out about it. That is an absolute tip-off the seller believes totally his asking price is above market price and his boat is below. This true of virtually every last product sold. Always true. Bet the ranch on it. btw, if you check the listings you will find damned few westsails are selling these days. the boats just stay listed and stay listed and stay listed. Asking prices of Westsail 32's in SF area (an economically depressed area since the dot bomb) are low $30's and no takers (similar problems with all boats in SF area now). A W-32 can be shipped SF to most anywhere in the country for $5,000 or less. The guy was looking for someone to pay over market, or the guy was hoping against hope his boat actually is over market. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, his failure to show a price upfront clearly shows he hoped to rope someone in. Jax, he did not hide his price in any way. Anyone interested would just click the link, as I did. Really now! Just one click! Meanwhile, a 1979 Westsail 32 sold out of my club last year for 51K. A quick look at yachtworld shows his price is in the ballpark for these boats. Did you read about the boat? Repowered and a ton of custom work. The boats looks nice, nicer than the one I saw last year. Really nice Westsails tend to sell in the 40-50K range as a START. Sure, you may find one cheaper, but not easily. You don't have to buy his boat or even click his website, but he did nothing wrong and the webpage covers all of the details...and the price. Best of luck to your friend.
