Well, that didn't take long. So much for the new, improved rec.boats.

All my restraint didn't help a bit, did it?

Do we have to give him yet another chance?

Perhaps you should take charge and publish a list of what topics are

allowed here and what topics are not. I thought there was general

agreement to avoid personal name-calling here, and to avoid initiating

partisan political discussions. The post I put up is neither personal

nor partisan political.

It's fine with me if you want this newsgroup to avoid discussions about

firearms and other apparently volatile subjects.

List away.

The title of your post, "Obviously, he was standing his ground.", is the politically inflamatory part. Do you really not understand that?

Of course you do, or you wouldn't have written it.

I take this as confirmation that Republicans are responsible for Stand
Your Ground.

Cool. I was hoping some fool would step up and take responsibility.

Did you see this?

"According to multiple reports, the shooting occurred after an
apparent argument over an audience member texting during a screening
of "Lone Survivor."

The suspect was identified as Curtis Reeves, a retired Tampa police
officer, according to News 13. He has been charged with second-degree
murder."

That's easy, the ones who acknowledge, answer, and repost the trolls

As long as we respond to the troll posts, they will continue. If we all
refused to answer but only decent posts, made with proper intent, the
appeal would be gone for the trolls and the group would be right back
the way it was a couple weeks ago, overnight....

It only takes one to say "well, he isn't trolling me so it's ok", and it
all falls apart... but you know all that

No, that's not the answer nor the problem.

You are trying to establish who should respond to whom and if one of the
people involved happens to be disagreeable with you it's not ok
according to your "rules".

You are the one who in an earlier post touted the "spirit" of the group,
and of course have admonished me according to protocol...

Harry and I have demonstrated that you can communicate and often
disagree without being disrespectful.

You have demonstrated that as long as it's someone else he is trolling,
you will answer, again, your prerogative... Not gonna' tell what you
can't or can do here...

You seem to feel that I therefore
am enabling any problems you may have with communicating with him. I
don't think it's your call to decide who can respond to who.
Apparently you think otherwise.

I am not trying to decide who to respond to at all, all I am suggesting
is that "what" we respond to and that would be "posts that are in
conjunction with the "new" *spirit* of the group"... I am purposely
avoiding any names.... or posters...

So, are you in on the whole "only respond to posts that suit the "new
spirit" of the group"?

Here's an excellent example of adolescent behavior cut from the

I'm sure that when rec.boats again deteriorates into its usual morass of

I wonder if the lawyer Reeves hires will claim that the guy who was shot
dead verbally threatened the ex-cop, and that the shooting was therefore
justified.

What? It wasn't political, nor was it insulting to any poster here. It
was...an example of evolution in action.

The shooter apparently felt threatened by the guy who was texting.
Perfectly understandable. The texter should have known better.

There was another example of evolution in Chicago. Some moron dropped
his cell in the Chicago river and apparently went in after it, and he
and a girlfriend, at least, drowned.

America is drowning in its own stupidity.

Another attack on Americans? Why?
