Texting Triggers Fatal Movie Theater Shooting Jan. 13, 2014 An argument between two couples over text messaging inside of a Florida movie theater turned deadly today that left one man dead and a woman wounded. Police said that two couples began arguing before a showing of "Lone Survivor" over one couple's text messaging. A male suspect, whose identity has not yet been released, became angry and took out a gun and shot the other couple, according to the Pasco County Sheriff's office. "The victim was on his cellphone, he was texting. We believe he was making some kind of noise. This noise led to an altercation," Sheriff Chris Nocco said, according to ABC News affiliate WFTS. "During that altercation, the suspect decided to pull out a .380 and he shoots the victim." The sheriff's office said in a statement that an unnamed "good Samaritan" helped detain the suspect until police arrived. The two victims were airlifted to Tampa General Hospital, where the man was pronounced dead and the woman is being treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to police. The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. today at the Cobb Grove 16 Theater in Wesley Chapel, Fla., north of Tampa. Police noted that the shooter and victims did not appear to know one another. http://tinyurl.com/obwfh6b The shooting suspect is in police custody. |

The shooter apparently felt threatened by the guy who was texting. Perfectly understandable. The texter should have known better. There was another example of evolution in Chicago. Some moron dropped his cell in the Chicago river and apparently went in after it, and he and a girlfriend, at least, drowned. America is drowning in its own stupidity. |

Perhaps you should take charge and publish a list of what topics are allowed here and what topics are not. I thought there was general agreement to avoid personal name-calling here, and to avoid initiating partisan political discussions. The post I put up is neither personal nor partisan political. It's fine with me if you want this newsgroup to avoid discussions about firearms and other apparently volatile subjects. List away. |
