I welcome you to Crackerbox Palace.

The old Evo’s interior was cheaper than a one-star Romanian hotel. The new
Lancer’s interior is a bit more upmarket, but it’s still a third-rate
romance, low rent [Buick] rendezvous.

Actually the all leather interior and superb sound system is very very
good

What on Earth is the point of a good sound system in a car that
doesn't have any sound insulation?

You cannot hear the music anyway!!!

Donal

You've never seen an EvoX have you?

OzOne of the three twins

I welcome you to Crackerbox Palace.

Ozzy, these clowns are busy comparing luxo-boats with AWD rally cars.
Donal has no idea why sound insulation would be reduced in a sports
car and Jlrogers is about to tell us and websters what a contemporary
sports car is. Of course if we allow that, then he's elevating the Evo
X even more. Among 4 door sedans that can seat 5 the EvoX has no
equal, besting all in it's class as a "sports sedan." Call it a sports
car and it has some serious rivals and even a few that topple it. Most
in the industry are calling it sports car or sports sedan
interchangeably.
Of course they haven't seen one. They probably never even heard of it.

Sure we have. In Odessa they're called Mexican Hondas.

Donal, Ozzy's quite right. The sound system is pretty amazing and the
navigation interface is beyond what comes with the DB9. There is less
sound insulation in a Evo X, but not for a reason you'd understand or
appreciate. But there's still plenty of insulation to enjoy the 650
watt system with powered sub and 9 speakers. Rockford Fosgate designed
it to quell aftermarket desire. It does.

Bob,

You don't seem to understand the difference between
650W "peak music power" and "5W RMS".

HINT-- There isn't much difference!

If you used 650W of real power inside an Evo, then you would
be rendered profoundly deaf.

You would need quite a big battery bank to power it, too. A 70+ amp 12
volt draw would suck the battery down pretty fast. Does the car have a
200 or 250 amp alternator?

Donal, you seem to have forgotten that Bob was employed as thug to beat
up drunks in loud bars when he was younger; his hearing is already shot.

Cheers

Donal, do some math. There are a total of 10 speakers. The sub will be
the most demanding. Typically car based amps have little to no
headroom, so a rating of 650, while better than most, is still very
high.

Ut'oh, now we are going to be subjected to an argument on the theory of
audio power measurement, something even most engineers can't get right.
Suffice it to say, please, that most car sound systems are loud enough to
rock and roll the dead in any cemetery within 3 miles of the road, and are
annoying as hell to all but the crack smoking cretins roaring by in their
tricked out and tuned, over-priced sheet metal, motorized pieces of ****.

Fine. But also remember that frequency response and proper balance are
another matter. In fact, while I've heard some car based systems with
good frequency response, all were incapable of creating any kind of
audio image effect. The Kia Sedona, with it's 7.1 surround system
complete with center channel was probably the best, but lacked low end
power. The Evo X Rockford Fosgate is NOT the best car system I've
heard, but it is the best STOCK stereo I've heard. It uses the RF
Premium Punch speakers and matched amp. The Navigation system is made
by Mitsubishi and serves as the head unit as well. It's far more
customizable than anything else on the market. It even plays DVDs on
it's screen. It's also well ahead of virtually all others since it's
hard drive based and will also rip CDs to it's own music server.

Marty, you are right. I keep thinking that Bob is a gentleman. I
guess
that I must have a generous spirit.
