And who said anything about it being just fine for police to brutalize
suspects, and incarceration without charge or trial is perfectly

It's OK for our troops to capture terrorist,and insurgents on the
battlefield and lock them up until the war is over. Thats been done in
every war I can think of, that and just shooting them.
