Is there no limit to the depth of your ignorance? |

Alaska has less people than Boston. The word was RATE Holly! Well duh. If a village population has 200 people and one gets murdered, the murder rate is astronomically higher than even NYC or Washington, DC. Rates mean very little when presented completely out of context or with no common frame of reference. And what context are the rates "taken out of"? Its true that the murder rate in Alaska fluctuates more than other state due to the limited sampling, but even with that, its above average almost every year. There's nothing wrong with the method, the rates are high. You can attribute that to a variety of causes, but the numbers are real. |

Guns hardly ever kill people unless they blow up or something.
Bullets kill people, not guns. Ban bullets. Sorry. Some things just aren't worth the grey matter to store them.

Yes, if he told me that those people were abusing the med and instructed me on the proper application. I bet you're one of those that thinks pot smoking leads to crack addiction. Scotty |

Just as PEOPLE can abuse most anything. Blame the abusing PEOPLE, not the object being abused. Think about it, Jeff. OK, let me think. Hmmmmmm. Yup, I thought on it. Its still a stupid analogy. I'm just pointing out that although the standard argument is that guns are "needed for protection" but in fact, the gun you bring into the house is far more likely to used to kill a family member than protect against an intruder. In my mind, the "abusing people" are the idiots that insist a heavy machine gun or and assault weapon are also necessary for "home protection". Or that its important that everyone is able to purchase any weapon with no delays or background checks. For all the nonsense about "strict laws," the Massachusetts law, considered the strictest in the country, simply prevents convicted felons and patients of mental institutions from buying a handgun. The license also requires a simple safety certificate, and is processed through the local police department. Unless you're a felon or mentally ill, its easier than getting a driver's license. So what's the big deal? Are you claiming gun control is bad because felons can't get assault weapons? Mental patients can't get machine guns? What's the issue here? I bet you're one of those that thinks pot smoking leads to crack addiction. heh, heh, if only the truth be known ... but I can say no more |
