Bahhhhhhhhhh! As in Hoboken. A common error made by common
folk, but not by real engineers.

Scotty,
I promise you no one at Lehigh University is focusing on Hoboken. Don't take
it personally.
I guessed Lancaster because you live near there.

Thad. Stevens is a trade school college. Stevens IT is second only to
MIT for engineering.

yes it is, but it's a very good trade school, and I wouldn't have thought
less of you for sending your son there.
Some of its graduates are every bit as capable as the IT.
Not to bust your bubble or anything, but Stevens IT, while a great school,
is a bit further down the most recent list than #2.

You're right. We have a few friends that went there (and know 2 kids
that are there now).

Well, that's what the Stevens people told us.
He only went to SIT for 1 year, then transfered to Penn State.

Ah geez! Lehigh told us we wuz the best! Now I don't know who to believe!!

Another great engineering school. When I was stationed at the nuclear plant,
I was surrounded by Penn State engineers. Man, could they drink!

My Dad went to Penn State for meteorology way back in the olden days after
the War....but he never said anything about the drinking...maybe it was
limited to the Engineering Dept.

and Scotty, a big p.s. to set the record straight right here, as you seem
to have made a small, understandable but incorrect assumption. I've never
claimed to be an engineer in anything. I said I studied at one of the best
Engineering schools in the country, and I did. (according to US News & World
Reports 2005 "America's Best Colleges" Lehigh is tied with Yale and
Dartmouth in Engineering. I've had enough science to ace the teaching
science and technology exams (2 separate certs), but most of what I know
comes from working so many years as a technician with mechanical engineering
firms. Before teaching, my job had always been to show engineers where they
went wrong. They're not a lot different than high school kids.
