They don't even have to ask; somebody else who knows makes it a point to tell them exactly what the wind is... several times over, in fact. DSK I can't speak for any flight schools except for our local school; here pilots are taught to look at various things on the ground to judge wind speed. As you point out though, there are several small fields in our area that are uncontrolled, so perhaps this is not universal. Cheers marty |
