Default An apology to the group...

I caved to temptation late in the evening yesterday and made an
inappropriate post concerning something that happened on Chuck's
boatingforum between me and another poster.

I sincerely apologise to the group for making an ass of myself. Even
more to the point, I apologise for dragging an issue over there into
something over here. If I knew how to cancel the post, I would.

I respectfully request that you not reply to the post titled "JimH is
a..." so we can put this to bed quickly. For my part, I will refrain
from dealing with this individual in the future and will make an
effort to cancel the post on Chuck's boating forum.

Again, my sincere apologies to the group as a whole for being a moron
and adding to the rec.boats clutter.

It will not happen again.

Geez guy, don't be to hard on yourself. This is rec.boats.clutter
Besides, while all the sniping here gets tiresome, a high quality nuclear
flame war, now, that's entertainment. ;-)

I learned from the best - James Boe, The Deacon, Gharlane of Eddore -
all the Usenet greats. I was even on Usenet's Top Ten Most Wanted
list at one time. :)

Another time - another place. Sadly, I'm no longer up to it. Time to
move on and let the younger crowd run with it.

Although the quality of most flame wars now seem to be sorely lacking
in language skills reduced to being obnoxious and foul mouthed rather
than skilled in the use of language as a weapon. If I thought that
the flame war newbies would learn something, I might get involved, but
my heart wouldn't be in it. :)

Right before he died, Gharlane sent me a private message (we became
friends after a word war duel which we declared a draw) saying that it
was getting harder and harder to maintain fresh and inventive ways to
eviscerate the maddening crowd if only because the replies were one
sentence and involved the vulgar forms for defecation, urination and
copulation.

I felt his pain. :)

Oh well. Onwards and upwards I always say.

I so expected a kindly, gentler, SWS after the vacation. Or maybe the
haul back was just so downright painful, you are venting from the trip.

Welcome back.

p.s. Brought home our limit of lobsters and didn't even need ALL DAY to
do it.

The trip itself was rather uneventful. Pretty much headed as direct as
possible. The trip down, we dodged a few storm cells after toppin off at
Caxamba Marina. The way back, a bit of SE wind for a couple hours, but
nothing to worry about. Once we got closer to the coast, it was a pretty
flat ride home.

We have a number of spots marked that we tend to snorkel to see if they
are there, then go to scuba to collect. Too much work (i.e. exhausted by
end of day) for me to keep bouncing to 15-18 feet and chase em while
snorkeling.

When I was a teenager in the USAF at Charleston SC I went down to 65
or so to clear a fouled anchor. Slid down the rode with the aid of a
concrete half block, up hand over hand. Only down a minute or so. It
was black as ink down there, and the surface seemed far, far away. At
that time I could swim 100 yards underwater.
