I know what my son learned. I read his books. I read his writing. I talked

Now that I think about it, though, you might be right. He never throws trash

environmental brainwashing of the wrong kind?

You are so perfect. Gosh, I wish I had a coin with your face on one side

You've said that before. You'll be back. Kids need to know when and how
to
question authority, because in most instances, the "authority" is chosen
and
paid by the person being governed, taught or whatever. Where do YOU think
they're supposed to learn that from? A cereal box?

I sure hope you had your mirror time today. You know, when you tell
yourself just how f**king perfect you are.

That's strange. You equate narcissism with teaching kids to question
authority? What the hell did your parents or the military do to you???

Example?

A very local example that you probably have heard about, the Florida
Panther. In fact that animal does nit really exist. It is just a
garden variety mountain lion, just like the ones who eat joggers in
California (as determined by a US district court based on DNA data)
but a whole mythology has come up around it.
They have been interbred with Texas cougars but people still insist
that this is a separate species.
The Manatee is another local example of outright lying but there are
people in Nebraska who still send millions of dollars to the Save The
Manatee Club. That money ends up being used to propagate the myths,
not the science.
I am a Teddy Roosevelt "conservationist" not an "environmentalist".
The difference is one is interested in habitat conservation,
controlling pollution and building stronger populations of the
animals, the latter is simply a cult, based on fund raising through
misleading headlines more than conservation.

OK. So, did you surround your daughter with many alternative forms of
information so she could see other viewpoints and form her own opinions?

Separate question: When you spoke to the principal, teachers and school
board about these problems, what did they tell you?

What perfect? That's our job as parents, to talk to our kids and be aware
of what they're doing. Are you the only person who hasn't gotten that
message yet?

Hang on...this is funny: You used to complain about the obnoxious kids you
had to deal with as a sub teacher, right? How do you think they got that
way?

U.S. Sugar was fighting "environmentalism" tooth and nail when I lived
in Florida.

If you want some interesting reading, check out the connections between
the u.s. sugar industry and the communist revolution in cuba.- Hide quoted text -

A retired 77 year old engineer I know quit eating sugar because of
that. He still to this day will not knowingly put sugar in anything!

============================

The syllabus (go look it up in a dictionary) comes from SOMEWHERE. It's at
the state level, or the local level. If the syllabus is meddled with by
special interest groups, it's usually at the local level, although in some
backwaters like Kansas, it's at higher levels. If gretwell didn't like what
went on in his daughter's school, he knew who to blame. It's not that
difficult to melt those evil forces.- Hide quoted text -

I wish schools could get out entirely of any business except teaching
reading, writing, math, and science, and helping kids learn how to
think. It was pretty much like that in the 1950's in my public schools.
We didn't waste a second on crapola like school prayer and pledges.
Probqbly won't be wasting time on NEA ridden public schools in the
near future either.

Just wondering.... How much of your sons Social Studies curriculum was
dedicated to the Revolutionary War, and to the Founding Fathers?
