If you want some interesting reading, check out the connections between
the u.s. sugar industry and the communist revolution in cuba.

I agree US sugar is a boondoggle that is based on bribery and
political coersion but fight it for that, not saying they are the ones
who polluted the Kissimee River and Okeechobee.
Nobody wants to say it might be the million Floratam lawns bleeding
fertilizers into the water. When I pointed out that the Estero River
was full of nitrates and phosphates too yet, nowhere near the
Caloosahatchee or any farms, I just got blank stares.
I was throwing my beer at the TV when I heard that all those fresh
water releases last year were, somehow, "sugar related".
That was purely SFWMD and the Corps of Engineers scared that we would
have the predicted hurricane season and that they would lose the
Hoover Dike. If fact we didn't have a 2007 hurricane and the lake is
going dry. This is probably what happened in Atlanta too.

I wonder what *did* happen to all the horrid hurricanes the Global Warming
fanatics were predicting to occur.
