That's what I was thinking as the simple solution, but when I
suggested an extra HD to John a while back, he went the repartition
route instead, so I think he' a "problem solver."
You know, spend a couple days tinkering and maybe screw up a couple
other things while doing it, instead of going around the problem.

based upon what motherboard you wanted to use and how many bays you
wanted to use.

Is there more to it?

Depends on your needs. John said something about going inside and
messing with them. If you're going to do that a lot (I've built about
10 PC's) you want a case that makes it easy. If you're not, you
won't care, except you still want a quality power supply, the power
supply often being bundled with the case.
I prefer big honking cases that allow real easy parts replacements,
substitutions.

there either.

The two hubs you tried are they the same brand/model? It's hard to believe
that the generic USB drivers included with XP will not work.

Are the hubs USB 1 or USB 2?

Try the hub manufacturer's web site for driver information.


Different brands. I'm thinking that maybe the driver files in XP may be
bad. They're USB2.

Maybe an upgrade to VISTA is needed

That's what's weird. The keyboard, mouse, external HD, Scandisk camera card
reader, all work well. Only the hubs don't work.

Soooo, who is actually having problems with Vista here. We have it all
over the place here on dual boot systems, and friends are running it,
no one has jumped out a window yet (pardon the pun. Anyway, anyone
here "running" vista actually had or having any problems cause my
expereince for basic home business and home computing has been fine?
