Never mind, I googled it. Gas pedal. Hmm.

It's a macho term, like the way some rifle owners called their guns a "bang
stick". Nobody knows why, although rumor has it these terms give some people
a real tingle in the panties.

LOL! Well, I DO have a 52 cal. flintlock and the black powder crowd
call those things a "smoke pole".

But no, I never got a "tingle" anywhere with it. But you never
know.....

I'd take that hot foot off, I don't like them, and I think the empty

Gay. Extremely gay.
Gay? No way, too dirty... just a chicks boat... a dirty chick...
Metalflake on the boat and bird flake on the motor...sounds like a

Uh-huh. What's the transom height on those dinghies you build? 12"? Any

What's the point. they are 10 foot boats? I would not sell a small LT
boat to someone who was going to take it into unprotected water,
unlike your last salesman...

What "unprotected" water is that for you? Lake Candlewood?

Well Harry, depends on the weather really. If you were really a
boater, with a real boat, you would know that. But we will settle for
your stories of conquests, Zimmermans, and pictures of your neighbors
LTP.

Actually, Candlewood would be dangerous waters for your dinghies, right?

What tingles your panties? Hotfoot is a boat floor gas pedal. Trademarked
term. They have been around for at least 45 years. Was originally for drag
boats.

C'mon... we all know it's Harry's. His neighbor isn't stupid enough to buy a
LTP. LOL

That's exactly the $ range I was thinking, Tom. And I know that the
electronics aren't up to snuff, especially the paper chart! I'll be
using my stuff if I buy it. I'll look at the problem areas you
suggested, like the rear deck, and like you, I'm a little (more than a
little!) leery of the motor, that's the main reason I was asking. I'd
heard of those vintage unEvinrudes blowing up. I like my very old
Evinrude, but in that year range, I'd really rather have a Merc.
Thanks for the input.

The base engine is fine - it's the VRO that is flaky. I replaced one
of mine on the 393V I owned, but never had another problem. Other guys
who ran them went through two or three of them. *It just depended.

Oh, with respect to the hot foot - give it a chance - you can always
remove it if you decide you don't like it. *Personally, I'm ambivilent
about them. I had one once and it didn't really annoy me as much as I
thought it would.

Good luck with it.

Went up and looked at it last night. Besides the hotfoot, the
hillbilly did quite a lot of..... let's say.... customizing that I
didn't care for. Then he told me that he had replaced the VRO system,
but when it failed it didn't do any harm "as far as he could tell".
The battery/electrical wiring looked like my 8 year old did it. Now
all of this wouldn't have been bad, I love having a project, but he
wouldn't come down to anywhere near 3 grand so I passed!

Have you actually ever built a boat large enough to take a couple of big
guys out fishing on a body of water on which there might be waves?

Be careful with this one.
Based upon the way the current owner put this up for sale, I'd say
there is close to zero pride of ownership. Lot's of dirt in the bilge,
trash under the helm, etc. Anybody who cared about the boat would have
spent 10-15 mintues cleaning it up before taking the photos for the
ad. Anybody who *doesn't* care about the boat probably has been less
than attentive to maintenance and repair.

Well, not to be contradictory, but some people feel that if it's
comfortable to them it ought to be comfortable to you too.

Both of my boats, I purchased cheap, almost dirt cheap. the apholstry
wasn't the greatest on either, but they were both mechanically well
taken care of with sound hulls.

But sure, I'd say that $3-3300.00 should be about right, that is, if
the engine checks out ok. Of course, I know you'll want to at least
run it on the muffs first.- Hide quoted text -

I'm the same way, I like having projects, and don't mind working on
something when I get a good deal. This wasn't it, see my reply to Tom.
It was a good looking boat, but goober did some "customizing" ie:
instead of fixing it correctly, go out back and find a piece off of
some junk car of something!

Instead of the throttle handle, they install a *gas pedal* type deal.
I can't get used to them!
