I recently purchased a 1980 Tanzer 22 sailboat with a swing keel.
When the boat is going downwind or sitting at anchor with the keel down, you can feel the keel rock from side to side. It makes sort of a BONK....BONK....BONK....BONK as it goes from side to side. My question is: is this normal? Is there too much play in the pivot point? You can feel (and hear) the sound as the keel moves from side to side. I'd hate for it to fall off while underway, might entirely ruin my weekend. Thanks for any replies. Dave BC, Canada |
