Jefferson could be considered "brilliant." And it's arguable whether he
was a poor speaker or not.... everybody has an off day y'know.

One "off day" wouldn't lead to 200 references being made to Jefferson being
a "poor speaker"...so it's not "arguable whether he was a poor speaker or
not".

He was "brilliant"...and he was a "poor speaker". Why don't you just accept
the fact that the possibility exists? You look silly when you assume that
every poor public speaker you meet is a dummy. Underestimating people is a
dangerous way to live in a competitive world.

Quite the contrary. When legitimate parallels between historical and
current events are presented to me, I spend a lot of time reading historical
references to learn more.

I'm wondering if our modern definition of a "good speaker" is the same as
Jefferson's contemporaries. In the time before mass media, oratory was
the way a politician addressed the public. Speeches sometimes lasted
hours and could incite riots. Perhaps Jefferson was less effective in
this aspect.

Bush's lack of ability in public speaking doesn't necessarily reflect on
his intelligence, nor do his frequent "misspeaks", factual errors,
grammatical errors, and miss-pronunciations. They do, however, exhibit an
intellectual laziness and lack of preparation unworthy of the President of
the United States.
