Default Can this be solved?

When I running my Pro-line 19 with a Merc 125 outboard pretty much wide
open and go into a hard turn, I get what seem like prop cavitations. If I
back off the throttle a little it goes away.
Not normally a problem but when I'm towing a skier it is very aggravating.
Is there an easy fix for this other than slowing down?
Thanks
John

It sounds to me like your engine is mounted a little too high. I would talk
to some prop experts about this. One possibility might be to use a smaller
diameter prop, but a bigger pitch. Also, I wonder if those "whale tale"
attachments might help to resolve the problem.

I have a Sting Ray hydrofoil on my outdrive that performs wonderfully in
preventing slide-outs, and also lets me plane much more quickly and at lower
speed than without one.

BTW- with a 125 outboard, is it safe to sling a skier around at full
throttle?

Don't know if it safe, but as a skier it sure is fun!

Could it be as simple as trimming in? Often required during hard turns.

Make sure your trim is set right.
Also, I assume you have an aluminum prop. Get a good SS prop (a 4 blade
would be great on your application). It will give you more bite in the
turns, hole shot, and probably better top end as it will provide for more
bow lift.

The prop I have is a Merc SS Laser II 20" pitch but it is a 3 blade.

Then prop is probably not the issue since you have a good one.
Either the engine is mounted slightly too high for hard turns or your trim
angle is wrong. You should trim down to make the turn. Thing about
lowering the engine mount is you will loose top end.
Which hole is the motor mounted w/. Remember - top hole means motor all the
way down and bottom hole means motor all the way up.

Just went out and double checked the engine is mounted in the top holes. So
I will try trimming during the turns.
Thanks
