Sailors often put odd bits of rigging in funny places on their boats.

In my case "expertise" is just the sticky residue of 4 decades (plus a
little change) monkeying around with sailboats when I could have been
doing something productive.

Funny you should mention odd bits of rigging - I keep finding more and
more "stuff" as I get into this.

Hopefully, I'll get the rigging set up by the end of the week in a
test run, then maybe sail the boat next week for a couple of days.
