It is an "Exclusive Upgrade Notification" with my very own "Personal Web Key".

Local dealer is apparently "the site for an exciting and unique Toyota
Truck Upgrade Sale" which is only available to select clients.

I was wondering if I should contact and tell them that a handful of
know-it-alls in wrecked.boats claim that my Highlander isn't a truck.

Anyway they are offering interest rates as low as 0%...cash incentives up
to $4k and a special $2k trade-in voucher. Gotta make up my mind by Feb 26.

Marketing! They are not giving anything away for free. We still get
letters on my wife’s 2009 Venza where customers want that model and will
get a nice trade in value.

I got a letter recently telling me my 97 Prelude was in high demand
and I should stop by for my deal.

I think it was one of the most stolen cars, so there was a demand.

I got a 0% interest offer from Toyota when I got the Tacoma. No trade
necessary, though I did have a trade. I think there was also a $1000
cash incentive, but I don't recall for sure. The dealership tried to
sell me on a bunch of "add-on" accessories (such as undercoating" which
I turned down.

Most of those 0% deals are an OR deal. 0% financing or some bucks rebate.
California, we. Get screwed on rebates. You pay sales tax on the whole
deal. Before rebate. And the rebate is taxable. Just take the money
off the price!

That only works if the rebate is from the dealer. If it's from the
manufacturer, they have to make it a line item.

In California they tax the the sales price before rebates. Dealer or
manufacturer.

I am sure it is worth more in parts than as a car. They are pretty
rare and I am sure kids wreck them a lot. Under the skin it is a
garden variety Civic with a V-Tech engine.
I still like buzzing around in it but if it blows up, I may just take
the tags off and walk away ;-)
There was a while when I thought about an electric conversion since
they make a Civic kit. I just can't make the numbers work out for the
little I drive, even with the 30% tax deal assuming that deal is still
around. They do have a kit that makes it a drag racer tho ;-)
I suppose if I am going very far I could drop my Briggs generator on a
little trailer and make it a hybrid.

Crash dummy needs new wheels?

Who are you calling a dummy?
My total cost of ownership on that car has been about $1000 a year for
the last 16 years including everything from the belt change to tires
and oil changes. How are you doing?

I was referring to the dealer's customer for your car.

The strange thing is people stop me and ask if it is for sale quite
often. There is a "prelude cult following". I see one exactly like
mine but well loved driving around here from time to time. For me it
is just a piece of metal that gets me from here to there. I am not
emotionally attached to cars and I certainly do not see them as a
measure of my self worth. If I do decide to roll it over, I am sure
someone will give me $1500 or more as is.

You'll do it. You fall for all of that sales BS.

Well, I do have 43700 kilometers on the odometer (roughly 27000 miles) and it will be 5 years old at the end of next month. Plus I like the new dash much better. Decisions...decisions.
Wife was working on me to trade in our Bayliner for a VR4...a full 18 feet long and wider. Comes with either a 200hp I/O or a 115 hp Mercury outboard.. have to admit the 175BR squats a bit in the water with passengers in the rear jump seats and it's a bit more effort to get it up on plane compared to when there is only the two of us and our Springer Spaniel.
