Oh, hell, I've tried to tell you, when your insurance goes, so goes your tag, thus suspended. Find me one where the only charge is a lack of insurance (perhaps with some minor traffic violation) and I will believe you. These people were arrested for driving without a valid driver's license. You won't find one with just lack of insurance because as I've said over and over, lack of insurance electronically generates suspended registration. I completely realize that you know more about the laws in this state than someone who lives here, so: http://tinyurl.com/k72pxmo http://tinyurl.com/882qqnt That says: Not having insurance is a misdemeanor. The minimum fine is $200.00. For a first offense your driver's license will be suspended for 60 days. For a second offense within a five year period, your driver's license along with your license tag and tag registration will be suspended for 90 days. If no new insurance information is received within the thirty-day (30) time period allowed, a thirty-day (30) "Notice of Pending Suspension" will be printed and mailed to the vehicle?s registered owner advising the owner that their vehicle?s registration is subject to suspension. This letter will include what is required to avoid suspension and fines. Important: Driving a vehicle with a cancelled, suspended or revoked registration is a misdemeanor and may result in the impoundment of the vehicle by law enforcement when discovered. Notice if you will, "impoundment of the vehicle". Of course, you full well know that bond can be required for just about anything in Georgia, and is MOST of the time when it's insurance, and registration related. |

Of course, you full well know that bond can be required for just about anything in Georgia, and is MOST of the time when it's insurance, and registration related. Kevin at his finest. you say the tags are "electronically" suspended immediately and then post a link that says "The state might even go so far as to suspend your vehicle registration, which will result in a $60 fee" Of course that link is not from the state, it is a threatening missive from the insurance industry. The state site you linked comes with a disclaimer "There is a way to keep your Georgia driver's license from being suspended on a first offense. Check with your attorney on how to do this." so it is really only poor people who are affected. I ask again, give me a cite of someone who was arrested for simply not having insurance, even if the state "went so far" as suspending the tag. (no warrants, drugs "eluding"or driving on a suspended driver's license) YOU MORON!!! I've said over and over, when the insurance is canceled, so is the TAG.... Now someone with a brain would then realize that the two go hand in hand. Thus, you get pulled over for it, you get cited for no insurance AND suspended tag. Now in short, I don't give a **** whether you believe me or not, hell you won't believe what the state of GA says about their own laws, so what's the point in trying to educate you? |
