We can certainly do a lot more to try to cut down on the number of fellow beings who are cut down by guns. By doing so, we are, in a way, denying that sort of death. No doubt. 2. Herring has no interest in "comprehensive answers" to gun deaths or any of the other serious social ills that plague our society. It's obvious from his never-ending, simple-minded and hate-filled posts and comments. I've asked JPS the same question and have never received any kind of a a response worth having. More name-calling, more spewing, and more brain-rattling dementia. Do you have a solution, Harry? *No. No you don't. You have some ideas on how to help curb the gun murdder rate, the same as I .but that's not a cure. You can't even get that much from the OP. So... Close the gun show loopholes. Make sales between private parties a legal process, just like buying a car, and include a background check. There is no single solution, there are incremental steps to managing the otherwise out-of-control free-for-all that is the gun market today. Getting drunk driving automobile deaths under control took three decades but by working all sides of the issue, the rate has declined by 2/3 over those three decades. Interesting. That's almost a repeat of the same thing that Harry said. You got something more original? |

That's almost a repeat of the same thing that Harry said. You got something more original? Lots of smart people are suggesting starting points that include: 1. Closing gun show loopholes. 2. No private sales without paperwork and a background check. 3. Ban on manufacture and ownership of mags holding more than 10 rounds. 4. Much more stringent background checks. 5. Mandatory and serious safety and handling training to obtain license for gun purchase. 6. No possession of firearms without a license. 7. National regulations for buying, selling firearms that supersede state regulations. 8. More mental health resources It's not rocket science. |
