I just responded to BAR with a suggestion:

There seems to be one common denominator that these deranged people
exhibit. They all seem to be looking for their day in the spotlight
... to be noticed and recognized. Most commit suicide knowing that
their name and existence will become known to the nation.
It's not a difficult stretch to conclude that the recognition and
notoriety that one person gets leads to other unstable people doing
similar things.

So, let's stop publicizing their names and the details of their
actions, problems and lives in the media. Stop giving them the
attention that motivated them to begin with. Having cable news
networks commit 5 days of non-stop coverage, analysis, "expert"
reports and investigation does nothing but encourage the next nut
to
become famous.

I don't see where it would have done any good in this case, since he
was
dead.

Exactly. Their whole purpose is to leave this world famous. Don't
let them.
