...those most likely to be involved in shooting up schools and in
committing domestic acts of terrorism...

...then guess who will be profiled...

...yup...

White Males

=================

I just responded to BAR with a suggestion:

There seems to be one common denominator that these deranged people
exhibit. They all seem to be looking for their day in the
spotlight ...
to be noticed and recognized. Most commit suicide knowing that
their
name and existence will become known to the nation.
It's not a difficult stretch to conclude that the recognition and
notoriety that one person gets leads to other unstable people doing
similar things.

So, let's stop publicizing their names and the details of their
actions, problems and lives in the media. Stop giving them the
attention that motivated them to begin with. Having cable news
networks
commit 5 days of non-stop coverage, analysis, "expert" reports and
investigation does nothing but encourage the next nut to become
famous.

Certainly some percentage of these shooters do it for the publicity,
but
I have no idea what that percentage might ne. I doubt the "really
crazy"
ones, though, have that as their motivator. They are in another
world
entirely.

----------------------------------------------

None of the experts seem to know either. So, connect the dots.
All
these senseless, mass murders all seem to be similar in how they are
conducted with suicide often involved. As previously stated, we
will
never be able to identify and treat everyone with a mental illness.
We
will never be able to rid the country of guns. So stop the common
denominator, i.e. excessive media attention on them.

I don't see how one can minimize these mass killings, and I don't
think
the media attention is excessive. The speculation is, but not the
coverage.

----------------------------------------

That's not my point. *Any* media attention that focuses on the
person who committed the mass murder is only encouraging other nuts to
do similar acts. Don't identify him in the media. Don't spend any
time trying have experts trying to psychoanalyze him in the media.
Don't provide the lure of becoming famous to others who may also be
deranged.
