Not a good idea without a Florida Concealed Carry Permit.

The plan was to keep the handgun in the car glovebox. Is a concealed
permit required for that?

Yes, unless it is locked up and not in an easily accessible place.

It is unnecessary of course unless you plan to drive through the worst
parts of Miami on a regular basis. However, if you go to some of the
old Florida towns like Clewiston or Everglades City and act like a
jackass it might be a good idea also.

Not if it's in a holster. They have some sort of three-step rule. The
glove box would be one, the safety on the gun another, and the snapped
holster #3. I'm not sure how they came up with that.

It was bull****, unless the dude lived in the ghetto of Miami or some
other large city ghetto.

I wasn't there... but have no reason to doubt the lady.
