Smart is encouraged; stupid is not. :) That's a good thing for our country. I hope it continues to be in vogue at your institution and a good many others. God forbid, however, they become part of the lame stream media! They'll instanty become left-wing advocates of socialism rather than trained professionals. It's unavoidable, you know. Once in a while, we are the subject of "pressure" from outside organizations that want us to reign in academic and student freedoms. So far, student and faculty activism have been able to beat back the admirers of Ned Lud. We've had some really interesting protests in the last decade and a half since I've been here, including one in which the students forced the administration to pay janitors a living wage and form a union. Hee hee... now you've really done it... you mentioned unions and a living wage in a positive light. That should make you about an even dozen enemies. |

Paul, have you ever heard this statement? "College teaches you how to make proper decisions on disputed arguments." Another one I remember: "College teaches you that if you don't know the answer, you know how to get the answer." Learned that my first year from one of my professors. Makes sense to me. Eddie |
