Hw was a "fundamentalist christian" and you still think he makes
sense? Typical liberal, thinks someone who believes the universe was
created in 7 days makes sense.

7 days to God and 7 days to man being the same is a dangerious
assumption.

Why does it take an idiot like you to make a good point?

I prefer Einstein and Hawking to baffle me with BS preaching. But don't
neccessarily think science precludes God. Just our interpretation is
child like. And knowing time is not a linear constant as our minds
percieve it, an easy deduction if you can think laterally and rationalize
well.

I as well. And, you're right... it doesn't preclude God. I think it's
enhances and expands Him.

I'm sure both Einstein and Hawking do baffle you. Charles Schulz would
baffle you. I haven't seen a single intellectually sound thought or posit
from you since you signed on here as yet another boatless right-winger.

Now, now... he said a good thing. He should get a cookie.

Well, at least I don't worship Obama at the price of freedom.

I don't worship obama or any other pol. I do think obama as a person and
as a president is many, many rungs up the ladder from George W. Bush, who
I believe will maintain his rep as the worst president in the history of
the United States.

What he was trying to say was that we shouldn't worship Obama like he
worships Palin/Gingrich.

Kudlow is Jewish who converted to Roman Catholism in 1996.

Hardly a far right wing fundamentalist Christian.

He's also been wrong more than he has been right.

If you voted for Obama and are unemployed, you deserve to be. SUCKER.

and what about those who voted for bush to wreck the economy?

Bush's 8 year expansion of the economy after the collapse at the end
of the Clinton years was amazing. Unfortunately, it was finally
sabotaged by Barney Frank and other libs who caused the mortgage
meltdown.

Good grief! You're in the running to be dumber than nuck.

Not at all. Nothing wrong with the economic expansion at all. It was the
debt that was mismanaged. Giving loans below risk/reward costs to people
who could not afford them. Created a bubble of cheap underpriced defunct
debt. Then the bubble broke. I think it was 2007 when real return
savings rates inverted to inflation, a 100% assured signal a
recession/depression is coming.

Me, I saw this coming in in 2004, and reacted accordingly from 2004
through 2008. In those years I reduced my exposure to US economics and
debt. And what US stock I own has a large foreign content even before
Buffet said it was cool to do so. In fact, I didn't own a CD/GIC or a
bank stock at all until spring last year when I picked a couple of foreign
banks that have yeilded me some nice returns.

Instead of bitching about the rich, whining about BS and following Obama
like a deciple, you should sit down and think it through and you will
realize Obamas lips mater not a damn.

Because the recession, the worst downturn since the Great Depression
started
under Bush. Got it.

It started long before Bush Jr. took office actually. Lets skip the name
calling for a minute as it maters little at this point.

This depression is about debt. Too much debt and much of it going
delinquent. How did this occur? Why did it occur? Why are not
politicians (any party) dealing with the causes?

Now ever well engineered system has checks and balances. In 1980 when
interest rates skyrocketed it was a check saying too much debt and rose to
discourage more debt and an incentive to pay off debt. In time the rates
came right back down preventing run-away debt.

In 1980 the high interest rates also gave the banks the cash flow to
absorb the delinquent debt. High rates also kept real estate prices in
check to stabilize inflation. The high rates had a real purpose and
served well.

Trouble is congress being a big debtor didn't like so much money going to
debt services. Hell, any addicted to debt type knows they don't want high
rates. So congress tweeked the banking to allow more leverage, removing
much of the check that creates higher rates when too much debt is out.
This allowed rampant debt growth without regard to sanity.

Over time this created a huge valuation bubble in debt and real-estate.
But like any system not in proper check, it breaks. And in 2007 it broke
when ponzi debt became defunct. Since about September 2008 even DC can't
borrow money, relying on the US Fed to create almost 100% of its debt
needs.

And worse, the problem isn't fixed. It is still very out there.

So, I guess that huge tax cut Bush pushed through doesn't count?

any more proof needed that you hate obama only 'cuz he's black?

well, no. what caused it was rich guys inventing new 'financial
instruments' like collateralized debt obligations, with no linkage to
tangible assets, who sold these alice in wonderland time bombs. THAT'S
what caused the collapse

If you voted for the winner since 1984 you deserve what you got.

i voted for 2 winners only since 84. clintion and obama.

It was 86 when they said you could only deduct your house but they
also introduced the home equity line of credit at 125% of the value of
your house.

nope. that was a state issue, because i took out a HELOC in TX.
amazingly enough in TX, you can only borrow up to 80% of the value of
your home

Then it became, "miss a car payment, lose your house"
Fortunately the real estate bubble had already started, mostly to
cover all of those 125% equity loans.
In the 90s and 2000s when they took all of the rationality out of who
could borrow money and invented ridiculous instruments to get more
cash in the system (about $2 trillion of cash that never really
existed) the die was set. We will never really have a recovery until
we swallow that $2 trillion dollar turd. We just added to the debt and
put it on our kid's plate.

and what of collateralized debt obligations which ballooned from 1
trillion in 96 to 62 trillion in 2006.

think that might have had something to do with the collapse

I assume you are attempting to tie the Legion of Christ and Regnum
Christi to "fundamentalism"?

Neither is "fundamentalist". Maciel founded both, but neither is
"radical" in the sense that they practice a faith outside the
boundries of normal Catholic practice and worship. He, however, was a
whack job.

seems your view of fundamentalism is limited to protestants by some
private definition.

as to him being a whack job, he was much loved by the former pope. is
that a 'whack job?'

Even at that, as far as I know, Mr. Kudlow is not a member of Regnum
Christi which is a lay ministry associated with, but not controlled by
the Legion.

He's also been wrong more than he has been right.

which is why he's conservative

That's what I like about you Bob - logic and reason are your strong
suit.

Anyway...

I haven't been around in a while - how's your XYL? I assume she
recovered from the broken leg ok? Splash the Tolly yet?

not yet...will put it in the water next week...thanks for asking about
the xyl...she's completely healed and we're waiting for my return from
korea to hit the beach.

You'd be interested in this - I was cleaning out my shack the other
day and discovered a crate of "stuff" that I bought at the Boxboro
Flea Market must have been 20 years ago. Drake T-X4C, R-4C and a
TR-7. I had forgotten all about them. Boxes and manuals too. Bought
them from a guy who was active in Air Force MARS as I remember. :)

wow! beautiful rigs and worth alot of money...classics.

z

The good news is that they fired up ok and load just fine. The bad
news is that they still have the old crappy caps and resistors so they
are all original. Something of a conumdrum as I like the fact that
they are all original, on the other hand if I'm going to actually use
them in the various "antigue" QSO parties they really need to be
updated. And I think the finals in the T-X4C are soft - if I'm going
to change those, might as well change everything.

So the antique collection has just self-expanded. Heh. What with the
S-line I inherited from my Dad, the KWM-2, the Hallicrafters stuff I
inherited from my Uncle and my SX-100 (1A) and now the Drake stuff,
I've got quite a boat anchor collection.

Like they say - real radios glow in the dark. :)

you have quite a collection of great radios! i'm envious...
