They don't design the cars and trucks, they just build what they told
to build.
Kinda like Lemmings with an attitude, huh?

Figures.

It's the way U.S. auto factories are operated. The disdain for workers
who haven't had some of the advantages you have had is palpable.

From what I gleaned here, Eisboch's *advantages* are the result of
self-sacrifice and *hard* work. You know, the American way.

You forgot the most important ingredient. Luck.

An old sage once said "**** doesn't happen, you let it happen."

Luck is sitting around in your underwear when the Publisher's Clearing
House check guys come knocking at your door.

You make your own luck by hard work.

Just like all successful people.

Many of those who work factory jobs don't have what it takes to do more
than show up every day for work and do a good job. That shouldn't make
them objects for your scorn.

Ahhh 401k's.... Too bad about those.

That's one of the reasons why many people are having trouble being
forced to ante up tax dollars to
save GM and it's union in their current form and contractual
relationships. The "majority" are watching their own retirement
investments tank, and are concerned about their jobs, their
families, their financial stability.

If you are still employed where your 401k is located and operating,
is there a mechanism to withdraw those funds without withholding or
tax penalty, and put them into another sort of tax deferred account,
some sort of IRA, where you have some say over where the funds are
invested?
I wouldn't trust "the market" with my retirement funds, but I might
trust a federally insurance bank or banks.

Are you that clueless? Do you know what the difference between a 401k
and an IRA is?

I guess you should get your buddies in Congress to have a mattress
account in every 401k.

What I was curious about was whether there was an escape valve for an
employee who wanted to get the hell out of 401k's and put his funds
somewhere reliable and rational. That's all. Yes, I know the difference.
Read for content, dropout.

You can participate in the 401k plan or you not participate in the 401k
plan. The latter will give you all of the options you want. There are
disadvantages to both plans. But, you get to make the choice.

Does a union worker have an option with respect to the union retirement
plan?

Why has your tone softened?

D'oh. I am referring to those still working for an employer who have
funds in 401k plans and want to get those funds out and invest them
somewhere a bit more reliable than the crooked stock market. I
understand they can decide not to have any more of their funds put into
the 401k. The question was getting those funds out to reinvest them
someplace more reliable.

The answer to your question about union workers is...many do, some don't.

Some Supreme Being. You called the election wrong.
Maybe not. Some of your own party members are complaining that it is
starting to look like
four more years of the same.

I hadn't noticed that Obama was appointing incompetent party hacks or
ideologues the way Bush did and does.

How the heck do you live with yourself issuing stupid statments like
that?

Holder, Richardson, Biden, Clinton (H), Podesta, Emmanual, Gorelich,
Rice (Susan), Daschle, Geithner...

Two, count'em, two former genreals - both what we used to call "flag
pole" generals although to give one credit, at least he was a Marine -
the other was a moron and a true insider's insider in the Pentagon.

You really are a piece of work.

I don't consider any of Obama's appointees incompetent party hacks or
idealogues. You're certainly entitled to your political opinions, but
since your party lost big time, I'm not concerned about them. What you
care about former generals and $4.00 will get you a cuppa at Starbucks.

I did say it was silly, but it's still a valid issue and it will be
reviewed at some point - it has to be because it's at the very core of
what is and isnt' an American.

I'm telling you - it's going to become an issue.

Besides, it's all in Congress's hands anyway - they can fix this
quickly and easily. However, the "scandal" will come from trying to
make that "fix".

It's going to happen.

It's a valid issue?

Only to the right wing sore losermen.

Interesting - there is going to be a "scandal" during his first 100
days.

Statute provides that those born on foreign soil to servicemen or
diplomats serving are "natural born -- which is what makes John McCain
"natural born."
That same statute the Nationality Act of 1940 (amended in 19652)
requires the U.S. Citizen to have resided in the U.S. for ten years,
five of which were after the age of 14.
Ann Dunham was only 18 when BHO was born.

Obama's father lived in the US less than a year.

Obama's biological father was a Kenyan citizen and Obama's mother a
U.S. citizen who was not old enough to register Obama's birth in
Hawaii as a "natural born" United States Citizen.
It's technical I know, and a little silly I readily admit, but...

More political hay has been made out of technical legal issues which
are totally silly - it's a politicians stock-in-trade.

Oh, not this crap again. The right-wing fruitcakes have been working the
"Obama is not a natural born citizen" crap for months. The Supremes
refused to cert such a case yesterday and will do the same with the Berg
case.

Get over it. Your boy and his brainless bimbo lost.

Does the rule of law mean anything? From where do the laws of the USA
come? I find it interesting that a lawyer, The Obama, is so ignorant of
the laws of the USA. What is he hiding regarding his birth?

Personally, I've been quite impressed with his picks, mostly centrists
and pragmatists. You can quibble here and there, but they are all very
qualified. I would expect there confirmations to breeze through.
