Regards ....Angel Read The Fine Manuals that came with the equipment you are trying to connect. I know that Garmin, at least, clearly indicates the purpose of the various wires in their equipment cables. I assume that you need to connect the Data Out (or NMEA-0183 out) wire from the Garmin to the Data In (or NMEA In) wire on the Horizon. If the Horizon has two NMEA In wires, the Garmin out goes to the In + or In A, and the In B or In - is grounded. -- Peter Bennett, VE7CEI peterbb4 (at) interchange.ubc.ca new newsgroup users info : http://vancouver-webpages.com/nnq GPS and NMEA info: http://vancouver-webpages.com/peter Vancouver Power Squadron: http://vancouver.powersquadron.ca |

Last night I suggested to Skip on the phone to look for the 12V power to the new alternator from the engine switch. It was dead. Jumpering it from the battery post, directly, and he was charging hard, again.... I love it when I can figure something out, especially by remote control. I fixed a tube-type Russian TV from here with a PDF of the schematic and Skype video to a Russian friend's office a few months ago. Now THAT's fun! He had a shorted capacitor in the HV section of his horizontal output stage. No HV, no picture! Larry -- While in Mexico, I didn't have to press 1 for Spanish. While in Iran, I didn't have to press 1 for Farsi, either. While in Florida, I had to press 2 for English. It just isn't fair. |
