Anyone using Garmin 182C chartplotter have any comments? Is the device
really readable in the sunlight? Would you buy again? Any other comments?
Thanks,
T

After whining about needing to upgrade the software (and not having a
macintosh way of doing so) I have to say I love this unit.

The charts are as good as advertised. The screen is so bright at night
I will need to dim it. I had no problem seeing it in direct sunshine on
our cruise this summer.

It was aslo easy to plug in marks and routes.

If you can get the bigger units (twice the price) you won't be sorry.
But it was the best boating purchase I made the past few years.

Agree completely. A bigger screen would be nice but for the $$$ the 182C
is A-OK.

One thing - do NOT *delete* any waypoints. MODIFY them as needed
instead. If you delete waypoint #1 you are left with waypoints 2 thru n.
AFAIK #1 is gone forever!! If anybody knows how to get it back please
advise us all.

If you search on google for discount GPS accessories you can buy this
part for a lot less.

I love mine. We just took a trip across Lake Erie and up the Detroit
and St Claire rivers and it performed flawlessly.
The unit it very easy to use and quite intuitive.

I would suggest purchasing the kit from Garmin that allows you to
upgrade the unit using your computer and the Garmin free web updates.

Also, the Garmin swivel mount is a good idea because you can swivel it
out of any direct sun reflections or over towards your navigator.
