Huh? (Thomas will really be upset now)
Scroll down to the bottom of this page and look at the last FAQ.
http://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/s...atrol/faq.html Good thing you can go past NH in a few hours. I also learned that every NH resident operating a boat over 25 HP after 2008 must take a proctored examination and get a certificate. Out of state residents are required to have the certificate if they operate more than 30 consecutive days in NH. The MA certificate is not recognized by NH! Thomas better make sure his next boat is under 25 HP. -- Roger Long |

And people keep telling how free the US is. If you are singlehanding, or the only person on board qualified to operate the vessel, could you not make the argument that you had to anchor and get some sleep or else you would become a danger to yourself and others? Can NH enforce a law that requires you to violate the COLREGS? As of June next year, you're going to need a passport to get back into your own country after visiting Canada, which we'll let you do with just a drivers license. I wonder what our border services people would do if your guys sent one of your back? Cheers Marty |

Isn't that the State with "Live Free or Die" on its license plates? One can only assume that the State of New Hampshire is now populated entirely by zombies. |

Very easy to beat that stupid reg in court. And, besides, how are they going to know somebody is sleeping if they are IN their boat sleeping and not ON their boat sleeping. Unless they sneak aboard and sneak below and catch you sleeping how can they claim you WERE sleeping. Such a dumb law. Can't be enforced. Even Dave would probably admit that and he's a lawyer - well, sorta! Wilbur Hubbard |

I doubt this rule could be enforced in the harbor area.. but;: The state takes the boat registration money, spends it on law enforcement and then the law enfocement has nothing to do so they dream up rules.. As a NH ite .. I hate to say this but our state is turning into a **** pie. Soon we will be Mass north. Taxes, corruption, .. Of course, Maine isn't much better.. Guess its time to move to ?? Where ?? Help.. is there a safe place left. Oh well.. I'm heading for Sweden.. Sure,, it is a socialist pit.. but ... the women.. The women.. |

Hi there, I’ve been reading the posts to this group for some time now, I’m writing to let all you guys on the other side of the Atlantic know that while it is not exactly reassuring, it is something of a comfort to know that us boaters in the UK are not the only ones being driven crazy by silly rules and petty bureaucrats.
