There's a limited number of stops on the north shore of Lake Ontario,
especially if 40 feet means 6 foot plus draft. I have been gently and
retrievably aground at Pickering, Port Darlington, and Newcastle. Port
Hope and Coburg are both nice and deep, but none of these are must see
destinations.

Consider the inside route through the Murray Canal (just re-opened I
hear, so check in advance) into the Bay of Quinte. Be sure to stop at
the Prince Edward YC in Picton, then stop in Kingston for all the
tourist stuff. The Thousand Islands are great and well described in
the Ports guide, then there is a lot of boring river on the way to
Montreal.

On the south east shore you should hit Sodus Bay, Henderson, and
especially Sackett's Harbour.
