Default Saguenay and St Lawrence River

Can anyone tell me about the intersection of the Saguenay River and St
Lawrence River in Canada. Friends of mine are planning to travel down
the Saguenay to the St Lawrence and have heard that it can be quite
dangerous when the wind and current are working against each other. It
has put quite a damper on their vacation plans. I have never been there
but believe that if you go at the right time-right tide and wind-that
it should be very doable in their 20-foot powerboat. Has anyone been
there, done that who can tell me of their experiences?

The Québecois call the St. Lawrence "la mer" there because it's a little
over 30 miles across at that point. Any 30 mile fetch with tides and a
fjord like river mouth can create some interesting conditions. Some up-
sides are watching the sand skiers coming down the slopes near Tadoussac
and of course the whale watching. We crossed from Trois-Pistôles in an
open power boat of about the same size in good conditions and it was
quite enjoyable.

Sounds like it is doable if he is cautious, which he is. Thanks
