Well, it's been a long time since I said the following, but Donal's
lame comments are deserving....

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

The Aston Martin? Donal thinks it's got "soul" because James Bond
drove one???? Do you know that a Evo X is a better driving machine? Do
you know that it handles better and has a FAR more sophisticated
suspension and drive train system? Do you know that Evo's are one of
the definitive driving machines of the last decade in Europe and the
US? Do you know what a "tuner's car" is and the Aston Martin is NOT a
tuner's car?
Let's teach Donal something about street credibility, which he seems
to think has something to do with me driving alone on my winding
roads: The DB9 simply says "I wanted the most expensive car", not the
best driving machine. It can't compare in ANY way to the best handling
cars of which the Evo X is universally agreed on as a member.

As for the GT-R, good lord, Donal! Stop talking already. You can't
cram any more feet in. A GT-R is a supercar well beyond anything a DB9
can muster. You probably don't even understand that a driving
enthusiast doesn't want a Aston Martin over a Evo X or GT-R, two cars
with superior handling and feedback.

You really don't know the meaning of "class", do you?
A GT-R is a big engine for men who fail to qualify in other
areas.

A DB-9 is for the man who already has everything.

Are you stupid enough to believe that a GT-R looks as
good as a DB-9? Do you feel hat the GT-R comes close
to the DB-9's feeling of pure luxury?

Let's face it, Bob. You have a cheap boat. You have a cheap
telescope. You have a cheap camera. You would be at
home with a cheap automobile.

The Evo will feel as good as your 8" Celestron.

Regards

Donal

Uh, Donal....a Cave Astrola reflector from the early 80's will easily
top the highest end 4" refractor. It's simply going to collect too
much light over the 4 and transmission coatings don't equal raw
aperture. They've been making VERY good mirrors for even longer than
20 years.
I thought you knew something about this, but it sounds more like
you've read a lot of Vixen and Tak ads.

Ahhhh.....

You can't afford a Tak?
I've been reading the posts about cars. I think that
neither you nor Oz can afford an Aston Martin.

I could buy a Tak tomorrow, but it would be inferior to my CPC scope
since it would be tougher to setup and would get less use. I'm
planning on a GT-R, which is better than an Aston Martin.

The GT-R is FASTER than the DB9. If you think that means
that it is better then you are not really qualified to own an Aston.

The GT-R is FASTER...oh an it also handles better in ALL conditions,
has AWD, better driving position and comfort, more reliability. The
Evo X also does better, but it's not faster in stock form, though it's
pretty close. The poor DB9 can't even hang with a Vette.
Now, before you look any dopier, consider the following: The new GT-R
does 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and pulls well over a full G on a skid pad.
It's FAR better balanced than a DB9 and can be driven well in snow and
rain. You just don't know what a handful a DB9 is on a twisty road
compared to a GT-R or Evo X and you don't understand how fast the GT-R
is. It's utterly in a class all it's own, which is why I'm on a
waiting list to get one.

Nice work, Donal...you utterly showed your ass again.

Well, that really takes the biscuit!!! Bobsprit accuses *me* of
name
dropping!!!!

Yup, you absolutely named dropped.

What Hi-Fi do you have? What home cinema system? What camera?
What car? What telescope?

I have some high end stuff and some bargain stuff. Why?

Bob, your telescope is like your car. It is mass produced mediocre
tat that is made for the recently affluent working class man. These
things are desinged for *new* money. People who come from a
decent background wouldn't be seen in possession of such rubbish.

Wow! The director of AMNH science center owns a CPC-800 and suggested
one to me. He must have a rubbish background. Who knew that a person's
choice of astronomical instrument for their child was a class
indicator? Donal knows, that's who!

You *know* that if I wanted to name drop, then I would have
highlighted
my camera instead of the telescope. If you don't know that this is
true, then you don't know anything about astrophotography.

What are you babbling about? Scope, mount and CAMERA are all of
interest and even more so if you're only using scope for piggyback
shooting as I was.

So, which car are you going to buy? It won't give you any more
street credibility than the Pearson 30 did. Take a test drive in
a DB9, and you will realise that the cars that you have been

Evo X GSR. If you'd like to learn something about enthusiast cars and
why the Evo X is so spectacular (regardless of price, Donal), look at
these clips:
Ozzy...take a look, though you probably saw...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qreQwTeaVWY
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3ksZ...eature=related

Meanwhile, I love the reviews of the beautiful DB9 that say it's nose
heavy, has a tendency to plow into hard corners and so on. As Ozzy
said, no thanks. Want real handling? Get a GT-R or Evo or even a
simple Cayman S. Want more comfort? Try the sweet Audi R8....WAY nicer
than the AM.

But, in terms of class???

No, it loses in CLASS too. You just don't get it. Enthusiast drivers
want the BEST handling, not the best seat stitching. The DB9 gets
casino respect, but as a drivers car it's not near the top of the
class.

Let's put it this way. Imagine that we both turn up at the casino
in Monaco. Which car will get a parking space at the front
of the Casino? You know the answer! Your Evo will be directed
towards the rear of the building. The Aston will get a space
beside the main entrance.

Wow. You really need some attention. I'd hate for my car to be used in
that way. I just want the most fun driving and top class handling, so
I guess the Evo X was a great choice.

Speed isn't everything. Some places still appreciate pure
class.

Only superficial clods think that way...DONAL. Most educated folks now
know that labels and skins fall a distant second to actual
performance. Cars like the Evo or STI didn't get to be top dogs by
offering value, they did it by BEATING other cars, picking off
automotive legends one-by-one. Beauty and soul are very personal
tastes. If you liked driving and were any good at it then perhaps
you'd know why the Evo is already being tested in stock trim against
exotics. It usually doesn't win, nor is it expected to. But it does
very well, and sometimes better in certain respects...and it has room
for REAL back seats! Top Gear called the DB9 rear seats a joke!
So again...no thanks.

If you can ignore the beauty and soul, and accept a car that offers a better driving experience than the DB9 and can be used in rain and snow, then an Evo is
suitable for you.

Well said, Donal!

First time I ever saw 2 guys arguing about who is more pretentious.
But I don't get to Monaco much.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA! The DB9 has the BIGGER engine. The GT-R clobbers the
sad AM with a smaller motor and then manages to design a balanced car
as well. It's pretty laughable that you consider any of these cars
cheap. A loaded MR in the US is 44K and my GT-R loaded will cost me
nearly 90K. None are inexpensive cars and if you had some class of
your own you wouldn't be worried about having a car to create some for
you!

A DB-9 is for the man who already has everything.

And has learned nothing.

Are you stupid enough to believe that a GT-R looks as

The GT-R is FAR better inside. Now I know you haven't sat in a GT-R.
The seats are much better, designed for serious hard driving. The GT-R
also has better footwell room by far and it has back seats that are
actually usable. It's no contest. GT-R wins by a mile.

Let's face it, Bob. You have a cheap boat. You have a cheap
telescope. You have a cheap camera. You would be at

Yeah, I guess my Beneteau is a cheap boat in the grand scheme of
things. I own more than one scope. One is a Televue. Good camera gear
is everywhere, but mine is better than yours. I bet you don't own a
car that handles like my car or Ozzys. You sound VERY angry,
frustrated and jealous now.

The Evo will feel as good as your 8" Celestron.

Lord, let's hope so. We've had a lot of fun with these GOTO scopes.
For a small child it's far superior to traditional scopes. Sort of
like why AWD is generally better than RWD much of the time.

Cheers,

My wife drives an MX5 (Miata to you Bubbles) It's a fantastic drive
and one of the prettiest cars on the road.
Nothing like the Evo but great fun...especially in our usually superb
weather.
