Those running the global warming show are in it for the money and power. And they depend upon dupes like Jon to buy into their spiel. Fortunately for them there are plenty like Jon around to fund their chosen lifestyles. Max I already said that... How am I "funding" my lifestyle by my willingness to make a few sacrifices for the greater good? You've been reading Marx again... He's a socialist, Katy. I think he's got copies of Karl Marx's works in his guest bathroom with a small sign taped on the wall above them: "Please help yourself to a copy and read it thoroughly and repeatedly. And believe." Max Then he'd better sell his boat and donate the money to Greenpeace..a true Socialist would be ashamed to live a lifestule unbeitting the needy... |

God forbid we should use the 'A' word. Max I like how you articulated that thought... I am impressed. I'm calling my attorney as we speak. Max |

Challenging their gospel is like urging that the Bible is not divinely inspired--you'll never get that concession from the ultra-devout. No. It's an article of faith in science. Rightwing nuts have no interest in facts. It's an article of faith in what you choose to believe. There is easily as much science disputing the human-induced global warming theory as that supporting it. The circumspect will wait until the dust settles a bit before jumping on any particular bandwagon. Max Where do you get this? Absolutely not. It's not open to conjecture as best as science can determine. You need to be a bit more open-minded, Jon. It not only is open to conjecture, there is some very strong scientific evidence that the warming trend of the Earth is due to a normal, *natural* set of variables, and not a function of humankind in any way. Personally I don't believe that to be the case. I do believe that man has altered the rate of global warming to some degree, but as to the extent of that alteration I'm as much in the dark as anyone else. You, OTOH, believe the polar ice will all be melted in another hundred years, mostly because you choose to believe only those scientists who support that notion. You likewise choose to ignore those scientists who hold the opposite viewpoint. That is a closed mind. Max |

We're polluting our environment by cutting down the forest and by burning the vegatation. That produces greenhouse gasses, which contributes to the global warming. In addition, the lack of trees reduces the possible absorbtion of those very gasses. Look it up if you're not too scared. The effect upon greenhouse gasses and pollution from the unfortunate destruction of the tropical rain forests in Central and South America is grossly overstated, probably for the purpose of supporting the global warming crowd's need for "evidence." The USA logs out hundreds of time more timber each year than has been removed from the Amazon rain forest since the whole sordid process began. And the USA burns far more coal, wood, and other natural fuels each year than the rain forest destroyers have burned since the beginning as well. But please don't let such facts dissuade you from beating the GW drum to your own timing. Max |
