Not only is it a warm beautiful place to spend the winter but the locals are all like family. I will miss it next year. Do most of the locals speak Engish, or do you know Spanish? Scotty |

Scotty It's a little of both, we have been learning Spanish but it isn't hard to find someone to translate when we are trying to be precise like getting some sort of boat repair done. Most of the restaurants have someone who speaks English but the good butcher only speaks Spanish so we have learned the names of the cuts of meat we like. The vegetable ladies (gals who drive around town in pickup trucks full of wonderful fresh fruits and vegetables) don't speak English either so they just give me a bag so I can pick out what I want. This year I am a lot more comfortable with my conversational skills but when they start taking too fast I get lost. Still, the locals are generous and don't hold it against me, we just laugh and try to find another way to get the message across. Barb s/v Arabella www.sailinglinks.com |
